John Bittman (Fed)

John Bittman is an Interagency Policy Specialist in the Technology Partnerships Office (TPO) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He works on convening technology transfer stakeholders and assisting in program and policy formulation on behalf of the interagency technology transfer community.

Mr. Bittman is the Host Agency Representative to the Federal Lab Consortium (FLC). and serves as the Executive Secretary for the Lab-2-Market Subcommittee of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC).

Before joining TPO, Mr. Bittman was a Presidential Management Fellow at the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute (NCI). There he worked as a Technology Transfer Manager and Invention Development and Marketing Specialist within the NCI’s Technology Transfer Center. John served as a Special Assistant in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). While at HHS, John managed the Deputy Secretary’s Innovation and Investment Summit and helped develop a new office focused on accelerating clinical innovation.

John was deployed to Iraq during Operation New Dawn as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.

Mr. Bittman holds a Professional Science Master’s degree in Nanotechnology, a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Physical, Biomedical, and Behavioral Sciences) from the University of Central Florida.  John also received a Graduate Certificate in Technology Ventures from the University of Central Florida and a Certificate in Policy Strategy from the Brookings Institution.
