Release information
This card was included as both a Regular card and a Full Art card in the Japanese Infinity Zone expansion. Both prints feature artwork by 5ban Graphics. The Regular print was included in the Darkness Ablaze expansion, while the Full Art print became a SWSH Black Star Promo available in the Eternatus VMAX Premium Collection from September 4, 2020. A Jumbo version of the Regular print with the Darkness Ablaze expansion logo on the left side of the artwork as given away in various countries to celebrate the launch of the set on August 14, 2020. In the United Kingdom, it was given to customers who purchased at least £15 worth of selected Pokémon Trading Card Game products at participating GAME stores.[1] Some stores gave away Jumbo Toxtricity V cards as well with qualifying purchases. Special bundles that included Eternatus V were also available through their online store. In Germany, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, it was given away together with a stamped Holofoil Corviknight with any TCG purchase at Proshop stores. Participating Intertoys stores in the Netherlands and GameStop stores in Ireland[1] gave away this card with TCG purchases worth at least €10. In Italy, it was given to customers who purchased at least €15 worth of TCG products at participating Toys Center stores.[2] Participating JRC Gamecentrum stores in the Czech Republic and BRLOH Gamecentrum stores in Slovakia also gave away this card with any TCG purchase.
Another SWSH Black Star Promo print with different artwork by the same artist was available in the V Powers Tins, also from September 4, 2020. In Japan, this print was released as one of the S-P Promotional cards and was available as part of the Eternatus Challenge Campaign, which began on June 5, 2020 in tandem with the release of the Infinity Zone expansion. Customers who purchased an Infinity Zone booster box at participating stores nationwide received a Mini Card Box and a Promo Card Pack containing one of five possible promotional cards.[3] The campaign ran for as long as stocks lasted. Due to a manufacturing error, the giveaways intended for distribution at Pokémon Centers, Pokémon Stores, and from the Pokémon Center Online were delayed.[4] Customers with an eligible purchase from the Pokémon Center Online had their gifts shipped separately after the end of June 2022; Pokémon Centers and Pokémon Stores eventually began to distribute the gifts from July 25, 2022, at which point the purchase conditions were expanded to include any TCG booster pack. The Japanese version of this print features the campaign logo on the right edge of the illustration.
The Darkness Ablaze print was reprinted in the Japanese Shiny Star V subset, as was a Secret gold Full Art print, which also features artwork by 5ban Graphics. Outside Asia, the Secret gold print was included in the Shining Fates expansion. The Darkness Ablaze print was reprinted again in the Japanese Zacian & Zamazenta vs Eternatus Special Deck Set and VMAX Climax subset. The VMAX Climax subset also included a Character Secret Rare print with artwork by kodama, which was subsequently released outside Asia in the Lost Origin expansion.
