Wikipe-tan

Deleted Image:LocationSouth_Korea.png without CheckUsage

Hello. I have a question regarding your deletion of Image:LocationSouth_Korea.png, due to duplication. I guess you should have checked first which wikis make use of the image, at least the Bulgarian one uses it, and undertake appropriate measures to fix the possible negative consequences of your action. As you maybe know, the images of this sort are used in templates where the parameters follow some naming conventions which however are problematic in cases of 2+ words in the country name and presence of "The" (like "The Netherlands"). That is why many of these images are deliberately uploaded under various filenames so that all naming conventions be covered and no wiki suffers. Having in mind the image file size of 5 Kb, I can't really believe that economizing the resources of Wikimedia Foundation justifies the deletion. And why do you talk of duplication, when this very same image even now is available under (at least) two other filenames: Image:LocationSouthKorea.png and Image:Location South Korea.png? This was my reason to upload this third version of the file name, in order to fix our local problem. I suppose what you would say - to upload it locally. But this doesn't solve the problem of deleting images without even checking what damages may occur of this action.

Now, I will be grateful to have this image reloaded under the same filename and being notified afterwards on my talk page on BG WP. Thank you in advance, --Spiritia, sysop on BG WP, 19:39, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
