This pic was shot in 1956 by Jock Carroll (March 5, 1919 – August 5, 1995) a Canadian writer, journalist and photographer who worked for the Canadian media. It shows the twenty-three year old Gould who visited Nassau, Bahamas. That it was published on flickr with a regular permission for free use is not plausible. Why is the photographer or the location not named. Why no further description. All classical music fans know this pic because it is often published: https://www.thestar.com/entertainment/music/2013/02/08/grammy_awards_glenn_goulds_lifetime_of_achievements_to_be_recognized.html, but with credit to the photographer and with a description.

The pic is used as cover pic for a CD-release: „Glenn Gould Remastered – The Complete Album Collection“ by Sony in 2015 too: https://rhystranter.com/2015/07/28/glenn-gould-remastered-complete-album-collection/ named: Best of Glenn Gould: https://www.amazon.de/Best-Glenn-Gould/dp/B012UODAS2/ref=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&qid=1441374526&sr=8-36&keywords=best+of+glenn+gould

Looks like a copyright violation. ....HMS (talk) 19:24, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As the uploader, I have to agree with you. The Flickr page where I aquired this no longer exists. It's a wonderful picture, but it has to go unless someone knows that Carroll's archive has been opened to the public domain. - PKM (talk) 19:58, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, yes! (By the way, this pic was published by Jock Carroll for the first time in the book: „Glenn Gould: Some Portraits of the Artist As a Young Man“ in 1995, Stoddart Publishing Co. Limited. The copyright situation was on court because the Estate of Glenn Gould and Glenn Gould Limited claimed it for themselve. The Appeal Court found in 1998 that the copyright of the Gould-photographs from 1956, Bahamas, belongs to Carroll. https://h2o.law.harvard.edu/text_blocks/28246, short version: https://books.google.de/books?hl=de&id=U8rSBAAAQBAJ&q=Glenn+gould#v=snippet&q=Glenn%20gould&f=false ) ....HMS (talk) 10:24, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And finally found this information in the Library and Archives Canada: Copyright: Estate of Jock Carroll ....HMS (talk) 10:35, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
