In Bulgarian legislation and practice such a standard does not exist. According to the Law for the State Seal and National Flag, articles 16 and 17, Bulgarian President uses the national flag. Digital worm (talk) 20:33, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Keep. In use 179 times on 32 different projects. Take it up with each one of them before suggesting that we should snatch it out from under their feet. —LX (talk, contribs) 21:31, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Moved from User talk:LX:
- Hi! The so called Standard of the President of Bulgaria does not exist outside Wikipedia as an offical symbol. Please, read The Law for the State Seal and National Flag, articles 16 and 17. The President of Bulgaria uses only the national flag of Bulgaria. This is the official residence of the President of Bulgaria, note that the national flag is placed on it (Google Street View). This standard is not an official symbol and its presence in Wikipedia creates misconceptions about Bulgarian state symbolism. It should be removed or at least renamed appropriately. - Why are you commenting on my user talk page instead here? Whoever ends up closing this discussion isn't going to go off looking for comments made elsewhere. Again, Commons does not dictate which illustrations other Wikimedia projects use. Please read Commons:Project scope#File in use in another Wikimedia project. —LX (talk, contribs) 23:03, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- There are cases like this protected article in which I could not replace the erroneous standard with a more appropriate flag. Nevertheless, the problem continues to exist, this image is not "the Standard of the President of Bulgaria". Digital worm (talk) 23:14, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Not our circus, not our monkeys. 32 different Wikimedia projects decided the illustration was useful to them. Yanking the file from Commons is not the way to convince them otherwise. —LX (talk, contribs) 23:27, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- Then it should be renamed as "Unofficial flag of Bulgaria with Bulgarian coat of arms on it". Digital worm (talk) 23:48, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
- @LX and Digital worm: How about "File:Unofficial flag and coat of arms of Bulgaria.svg"? — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 16:34, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, this is also a possible option. Digital worm (talk) 18:38, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Digital worm: If the file were guaranteed to be renamed with one of those two names, would you be willing to withdraw your nomination? I wouldn't want to tamper by renaming it first. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 20:42, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, if the new file name and file description do not allow wrong interpretation that this is the official standard of the President of Bulgaria, I will withdraw my nomination for deletion. Digital worm (talk) 20:57, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- I have no opinion on whether it should be renamed (or what a suitable name would be in that case). —LX (talk, contribs) 19:24, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Digital worm: I took action for you on that semiprotected article in this edit. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 17:33, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you, this is the correct flag of Bulgaria from the period 1879-1947. Digital worm (talk) 18:35, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Digital worm: You're welcome. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 18:39, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
