Commons talk:Internet Relay Chat
Secrecy
editWhy aren't chatlogs shared publicly on Wikimedia Commons? If Wikimedia Commons is about transparency then why aren't the IRC chatlogs made publicly available?
I agree that there should be moderation that actually abusive messages shouldn't get publicly shared, but if Wikimedia projects are about making knowledge freely sharable and discussions about that knowledge and the communities that share them, why should a large part of the conversation be hidden away from most people?
IRC chatlogs should also be made searchable as many issues people find in the help desk are often answered in the IRC. --Donald Trung (Talk 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 09:39, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
I am mostly looking for feedback here before eventually proposing it at the Village Pump. --Donald Trung (Talk 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 09:39, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
