Summary

Description
English: Bird singing is a unique heritage activity of Singapore, which originated in the 1950s. The birds that are most commonly seen in this tradition are zebra doves (Geopelia striata), known locally as the merbok, but other birds such as the red-whiskered bulbul (Pycnonotus jocosus) and white rumped shama (Copsychus malabaricus) are also used. This heritage activity is now fading away, with only 1 bird singing club, the Kebun Baru Bird Singing Club, remaining.
