Hi. Could you also delete Image:MILGEM 1.jpg and Image:MILGEM 4.jpg. Rettetast 18:01, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Camera templates at the village pump

I posted a message at the village pump in order to know if our idea of camera templates would suit everyone. Cheers --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 08:08, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

For the clarification; I'd never heard of Artweaver before and took the license over at WP at face value. Shame on me... Fvasconcellos (t·c) 13:37, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Undeletion propagation

Hello, re: Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Tomba di Roberto il Guiscardo.jpg

(I am the IP who noticed this old orphaned request and brought it on the deletion board.)

There is one last problem: when the wrong duplicate was deleted, all instances of the correct file were replaced with the old file across all wikis. Looking at how the wrong deletion was done, the undeletion propagation seems to require using the tool at User:CommonsDelinker/commands, adding a command such as:

{{universal replace|Tomba di Roberto il Guiscardo.jpg|Tomba degli Altavilla.jpg|reason=exact duplicate, wrong name to correct name}}

so as to also have the undeleted file be propagated back to all wikis. According to its CheckUsage the old (now deleted) file is still registered on the wikis, so the Delinker should be able to replace it. (I'm unsure whether the old file File:Tomba di Roberto il Guiscardo.jpg has to be temporarily undeleted before Delinker, though). 62.147.36.18 13:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: User talk:62.147.36.18 : it worked smoothly, as you can see from the now-empty CheckUsage for the old file, or automatic wiki replacements such as this one ; Thanks! 62.147.36.18 14:43, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Invisible protection?

Hey Collard, you said you protected this page, but it doesn't look protected. You also put one too many ~'s when you signed the talk page. Rocket000 22:52, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

That is weird. My protection skills are still there. What about semi protection or unprotection? Rocket000 23:45, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
And now they got a whole category to argue over! Yea! Rocket000 23:52, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

You know you never even protected a page before?[1] (!) Rocket000 00:09, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Let's see.. you click on the "protect" tab, right? Then you change the highlighted (default) to something else like Sysops only. Leave a comment and hit the confirm button, right? Rocket000 00:49, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Hahaha! That's awesome! Rocket000 01:05, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Awesome. (answer)

Thanks for the compliment:) --Luc Viatour 07:06, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Quick check

Heya, just noticed that you've deleted Image:Ladd, Diane (FMC).jpg as unfree for commercial use. I'm unable to check myself (as I'm not an admin on this project), but could you quickly check to see if the deleted page had been verified as being free at the time of upload by either a trusted user or FlickrReviewer? (It'll be a green box below the image description.)

If it was, would you mind restoring the image and adding {{Flickr-change-of-license}}, to notify people that the FMC have changed their licence on their Flickr page? If it wasn't, then of course the image can remain deleted. I only ask because all of the other images I uploaded from their Flickr page site were reviewed (and so are "safe"). It would be a shame if I'd forgotten to add the template to that one in particular.

Thanks in advance - GeeJo (t)(c) • 17:32, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Deletion request for old version

Hi COllard. Could you delete the first version of Image:Affiche de Qui est-il?.png (still available in the history). The creator has some problems of threats by a vandal on WP (he even went to the police) so he prefered to erase his real name from this picture. Thanks a lot for him. --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 17:39, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Wooh! That was quick! Thanks a lot! --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 17:42, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
BTW what do we do about me as a hypothetical admin? As I said, "better than nothing"... --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 17:44, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Well you see, even if I'm less present in the future I could at least deal with some few things... like that request I'd just made here! Better than nothing ;-)
And even if I think I will slow down for one (or two) year, that doesn't mean that I'd be 100% absent. I think I will actually come sometimes to upload pics of Uzbekistan during my year there. And there's my after-Uzbekistan-life!
Well it's up to you. At least I'm really glad that you think I'd be a good admin. It's good for my own ego because I currently need that kind of compliments. So thank you! ;-) --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 17:58, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Cos the subject interests you :)

This one is similar to the other one & there is a del req by the ip again - going offline or would deal with it myself. Me - I'd combine them, hope you don't mind (I've cleared up the other two offerings from that user) - cheers --Herby talk thyme 18:36, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Image:Jamal-al-din al-Afghani

Thanks for protecting this file page but I've added the file into Category:Jamal-al-din al-Afghani so you may want to unprotect the file page and protect the category page instead. Thanks--Executioner 20:51, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Image:Bilibin yaroslav.jpg

Please undelete it. It is old image (more then 70 years old) that Ivan Bilibin painted while in immigration from Russia. So you do not need PD-Russia but here are just some that apply here. {{PD-Russia-2008}} {{PD-old}} {{PD-art}} --Ilyaroz 07:35, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

PD-old is not appropriate because Ivan Bilibin died in 1942.  --Ahonc (talk) 10:27, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

What the peep?

That Necromouse image has obvious copyright issues. Can you explain to me how an image can be uploaded with a license that releases an image into the GFDL by someone who is not the copyright holder? And how the "kept" explanation means anything at all? (it was found online so the source is known). It was not found online, it was uploaded by Alkivar who claims his friend took it and gave it to him. That means the FRIEND is the copyright holder, not Alkivar. And the last time, Alkivar was supposed to send evidence to OTRS, yet he has not done so.

And now, your pal Nard is nominating my images for deletion in revenge. How does keeping an image with copyright problems and deleting images I've uploaded help Commons? Hmm? Night Ranger 06:34, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Peeps are much friendlier than naughty words. :-) Thank you for your kind explanation. Night Ranger 16:33, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

hi. can you tell meplease why you deleted this file: Hymn - PAO.ogg?? --62.227.144.28 12:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Regarding Image:Alison Lapper Pregnant.jpg (again)

The other picture of this installation, which was on Commons until recently, has been deleted as a "clear copyvio" (link to its deletion debate from the deletion debate of this one). Time to wrap this up, methinks. -- 217.171.129.68 14:26, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Technical question

Lewis, take a look at the en Wikipedia en:Creatures of Impulse...for the life of me, I cannot figure out why the lead image (Image:Ben Greet as Boomblehardt.jpg) is displaying with a black border in both FireFox and IE. Have you ever seen this before, or do you know who to ask about it? Kelly 13:23, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Because it has a black border: en:Image:Ben Greet as Boomblehardt.jpg! Lupo 14:00, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Ah - stupid me, I had not clicked on the 'Full resolution' button. Don't I feel like a moron. The border isn't showing on the image page preview, I haven't seen that before. Would one of you be willing to crop that border off? The computer I'm on doesn't have any graphic editing software. Kelly 14:05, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Must've been a caching issue: the previous upload didn't have that border. Just revert to the previous version. Lupo 14:13, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Nah, the previous version was in a lower resolution. I've cropped it for you with jpegtran. Have fun. Lewis Collard! (hai thar, wut u doin) 14:16, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi Lewis:

Can you help to find a solution to this problem?. I don't speak English well, so I have asked Giggy for some help to explain. Regards, --Zephyrus 09:03, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, I suppose you are an account, as I am one too, but none of us is dodgy :) I simply hope that you will help me finding some solution. Unfortunately it depends on a lot of people who are neither you nor me.- --Zephyrus 19:54, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Admin and nudity

That doesn't matter. I think I wan't ready to be an admin I guess. I still disagree too much with some aspect of the policies and the project scope... and I still think I'm not that wrong! I think there are really big problems and incoherence in the rules about nudity. As long as it isn't clearer I might continue to bother many admins here. For instance, I don't understand why Image:The lonely girl.jpg got deleted since it wasn't in a private place. If the consent is also needed when it's not a private place, we may delete every nude picture we have. I would understand tough. But I can't understand the current incoherence. --TwoWings * to talk or not to talk... 15:08, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Image as primary source

I am copying this from my Talk page here for your convenience.

Further to my welcome...

I noticed that you posted a picture from here. Unfortunately, all material on the Commons has to allow modification, which the source page expressly forbids ("Permission is freely granted to print these or post them on the Internet, but not to modify them in any way."). Please read through our licensing policy for details. It's also not clear that the author of that page has permission to create a derivative work of the photograph that comprises a significant part of the "motivator"; I doubt that he is the original author of it (see our policy on derivative works). So, unfortunately, I've had to delete it. Love, Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 17:42, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

The site clearly attributes the work to Phil Johnson; the file is needed to illustrate with a primary source the nature of criticism of a new religious movement. Critiques of the movement are almost necessarily visual and this is one example of that. Without the document, there is no way to give an appropriate citation of the nature of the debate and the author specifically allows free use for this purpose. Admynster (talk) 19:02, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

erased pic

I wish you would have contacted me before deleting my screen shot because I am trying to work with User:Luxo to be able to upload derivative pics. If I upload it again will you leave it alone please?Mmcknight4 (talk) 20:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Didn't realize a "crop your screenshot or risk deletion" policy was at work here, especially in a case where users are trying to fix software problems.Mmcknight4 (talk) 20:06, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Image:Daniel Agger2 cropped.jpg

I must say, you threw me for a loop. I was trying to preview the picture on the en.wikipedia article about him, and it just disappeared. So I looked at the log, and I'm like "copyright violation?"

Actually, this was originally going to be a long, drawn-out tirade about how retarded your brain is and how I would be moving to get your +sysop flag removed a post asking how that was a copyright violation.

I do know how much fun the admin buttons can be, especially after seeing things like this and this...

J.delanoygabsadds 14:58, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

It's fine, I just wanted to razz you for it, even though it was obvious why you deleted it. Sorry. J.delanoygabsadds 15:15, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
