*{{vk}}. Generic enough. . . it's an image of a woman holding a mic and (what appears to be) singing -that's general enough that no one could possibly have the copyright to it. [[User:R. Baley|R. Baley]] ([[User talk:R. Baley|talk]]) 00:13, 14 May 2009 (UTC) |
Revision as of 00:13, 14 May 2009
A painting which is a derivative work of a copyrighted YouTube video authored and released without permission from the copyright holder SBMGN (talk) 13:51, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- Note The work being based on Youtube came from the author himself (in his own words - he "choosed it as reference"): see this diff on Wikipedia. SBMGN (talk) 14:02, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- Note 2. The over-riding policy about derivative works on Commons is explained here. The general concept of painting a video does not however appear in the lower level Commons casebook for derivative work, see here. SBMGN (talk) 14:09, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- Delete as a derivative work. There are further issues concerning the English Wikipedia's "biographies of living people" policy, but I have no idea whether there is any similar policy here. 84.69.71.95 16:08, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, that was me- I thought global accounts were meant to solve that... J Milburn (talk) 16:09, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- Delete as derivative work - clearly based on the framing and look she had during the "Britian's Got Talent" segment, such that while Boyle's image is free, the composition is derivative. --Masem (talk) 16:20, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Delete. The uploader had the best of intentions (IMHO) but acknowledges ("Most people know her from her performance in the youtube-video, so I choosed it as reference") that his portrait is a derivative work based on the YouTube video (which is Susan Boyle's "official" channel, if it matters). Keep - As creative enough. What the author took from the youtube video (the "framing" and "her look") is not copyrightable. Her look is not a creative work by the video's copyright holder, neither is the "framing", since it's simplistic and unoriginal. --Damiens.rf 18:03, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
