Delete derivative work; see http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Flag_of_the_Federation - claim made by User:Pd THOR. --Oren neu dag (talk) 23:33, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Keep I Object! i made the file entirely by myself without using any elements from Memory-Alpha.org. --Oren neu dag (talk) 23:36, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to imply that you had copied anything from Memory Alpha; I only linked it to evidence that the flag itself is copyrighted to CBS/Paramount, therefore anything designed similarly so (especially with the intent to do so) is a derivative work. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 02:00, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Well,memory-alpha has allowed themseselves to upload a reproduction under CC-BY-NC-2.5 and still without causing change or violation to the original art; And if thats the case there, than why can't it be done the same in wikicommons? --Oren neu dag (talk) 15:00, 6 August 2009 (UTC)- Delete Either memory alpha has got permission or US fair use laws allow them to do this or their image is a copyright violation. It doesn't help the position of this image on the Commons. --Simonxag (talk) 23:41, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
That still doesn't answer my question: If fair use laws allow to make a whole new reproduction of the original art, why then, can't it be the same rule for wikicommons? --Oren neu dag (talk) 14:30, 10 August 2009 (UTC)- Unlike the Wikipedia the Commons cannot allow fair use media, mainly because it needs to comply with international copyright law, not just US law (which allows fair use). --Simonxag (talk) 15:38, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- Delete well in that case i change my vote on the matter. --Oren neu dag (talk) 19:28, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
