Summary
[edit]DescriptionFrench Notables (1889), Ringling Museum.jpg | Another of my minor favorites at the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota. It is one of ten giant canvasas depicting French notables, which were commissioned for the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution in 1889. John Ringling bought this one, which has figures from the arts, literature, and theater. The woman at right is Sarah Bernhardt (1844-1923), the famous actress. |
