Description
Italiano: STORIA VENETA – 123: 1657 – LA MORTE DI LAZZARO MOCENIGO. UNA VITA SPESA PER FARE GRANDE VENEZIA “Sempre più incalorito nel desiderio della vittoria, pieno d’ardore marziale, avanzavasi velocemente per lo canale. Stava egli appoggiato al suo stendardo, e con la voce e col gesto comandava e animava i suoi, quando una palla nemica, come sembra caduta nelle munizioni, fece scoppiar la galea, che quasi tutta avvampò. Nel precipitare l’antenna, schiacciò il capo al Mocenigo, che tostò cadde estinto. Il caso inopinato fe’ arrestar subitamente i veneti legni, ed ogni tentativo fu abbandonato. Si curò peraltro religiosamente di ricuperare le reliquie della galea capitana, lo stendardo, il fanale, ed ogni altra cosa preziosa … ”
