Utstillingstekst i Trondhjems 900 Aars Jubilæum: Katalog for Den Historiske Udstilling i Trondhjem 1897:

Parelius, Jacob von der Lippe, f. 1744 paa Hitteren, d. 1827, Provst og Sognepræst til Meldalen.

Søn af Proprietær og kbmd. Rasmus P. og Dorothea von der Lippe. Fra 1766-1773 Amanuensis hos Biskop Gunnerus og hos Biskop Bang til 1774, da han blev res. Kapellan til Frue Kirke i T.hjem. Han gav stødet til og udarbeide 1778 Planen for den borgerlige Realskole, til hvilken han fik Hilmar Meinckes (No. 420) Arvinger til at henlægge 4000 Rdl. af en Sum, han havde skjænket til offentligt Brug; T.hjems Skole- og Fattigvæsen fik han omordnet, Fattigskolerne forandrede til Friskoler, en Arbeidsanstalt (nu Kong Carl Johans Arbeidsstiftelse) oprettet til Modarbeidelse af Betleri i 1788, ligesom Sygehusets Opførelse ogsaa skyldes ham. Thomas Angells Legater ydede Midlerne til disse Foranstaltninger. 1798 Sognepræst til Meldalen, Provst 1801-14; tog Afsked 1818. Han var ogsaa en kyndig og driftig Landman; men bedømmes temmelig forskjelligt af sine Samtidige. Miniatur. * Fru Fredrikke Parelius.
