English: Toward the end of the trip, Montalvo got one last look at Mount Erebus, the second-highest volcano in Antarctica and some newly-formed sea ice stretching beyond its base.
“I benefited from being in the ice and really seeing it,” Montalvo said, reflecting on the mission. “Because I just look at it from satellite imagery, it doesn’t really tell me a lot about how the ice will behave when you’re actually in it.” |
