Description
Français : Arènes de Thénac en Charente-Maritime.
En dépit du nom de ce lieu-dit, il ne s'agit aucunement d'arènes (amphithéâtre), mais d'un petit théâtre gallo-romain, situé au bord de la voie romaine de Saintes à Pons. Fouillé en 1999, son diamètre est de 90 mètres.
Cette image unique montre différentes parties.
  • Les structures d'un petit théâtre gallo-romain, avec les vomitoria et les gradins.
  • L'existence antérieure d'un ensemble protohistorique, avec temple et fossés funéraires (rituel à incinération)
  • La visibilité de nombreuses diaclases du banc crétacé supportant le site.
