Template:Geogroup
(Redirected from Template:GeoGroup)
This documentation is transcluded from Template:Geogroup/doc.
This creates links to maps or geographic tools on categories and articles.
- Syntax
- {{Geogroup}} to scan all geocoded items in the current gallery or category page
- {{Geogroup|article=fullpagename}} to scan an alternate page
- {{Geogroup|level=2}} for example to scan 2 levels of subcategories
{{Geogroup|uk=y}}(DISABLED: page not found, need a new working service URL for the British Ordnance Survey map)
- Usage
- For layout reasons please use the template below
{{Wikidata Infobox}}
. The template generates an information box with links to these maps and tools:Map of all coordinates on Bing(DISABLED: page not found, need a new working service URL)- Map of all coordinates on OSM
Map of all coordinates on Google Map(DISABLED: page not found, need a new working service URL)Map of all coordinates on British Ordnance Survey Map(DISABLED: page not found, need a new working service URL)- Export all coordinates as KML
Export all coordinates as GeoRSS(DISABLED: page not found, need a new working service URL).
- You can activate an additional tab in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets to display a map link on all categories.
- With the "level=" parameter, it displays coordinates from subcategories as well: e.g. level=2.
- With the "uk=" parameter, a link to an OS (Ordnance Survey) map is displayed. Any non-empty value in the field will display the link, e.g. "uk=y". This is currently not available in combination with "level=" (DISABLED: page not found, need a new working URL)
- The template scans all file description pages of the files in the used category or article regarding geotagged informations. The pages are scanned, looking for entries of the templates {{Object location}} and {{Location}} to collect the geolocation informations of object and camera locations. As a result a map is shown with a layer presenting icons of all object and camera locations.
Map of all coordinates on Bing(DISABLED: page not found, need a new working service URL)- This is a link to a Bing Map. Object and camera locations are marked by three different icons:
- Object locations are presented by this icon.
- Camera locations without viewing direction are presented by this icon.
- Camera locations with a viewing direction (parameter “heading” at {{Location}}) are presented by icons like this. The arrow of this sample icon points to the right – it means, the viewing direction of the photographer by taking the photo was east.
- A click at an icon leads to a popup, showing the file name and a preview of the related image. A click at “More info...” leads to the file description page of the image.
- Map of all coordinates on OSM
- This is a link to an OpenStreetMap. Every object and camera location is marked by a blue pin. At the left hand side is a object list, the visibility of every entry can be switched on or off.
- Note that labels containing non-ASCII characters (encoded in UTF-8 with the KML export) are still not rendered correctly with the current tool.
Map of all coordinates from Google(DISABLED: page not found, need a new working service URL)- This is a link to a Google Map.
A further click leads to the file description page of the image.
- Export all coordinates as KML
- This link leads to a download of the list of informations in a KML format. The downloaded file can e.g. used to open it in Google Earth.
Export all coordinates as GeoRSS(DISABLED: page not found, need a new working service URL)- This link leads to a download of the list of informations in a GeoRSS format.
- TODO
- Fix the current OSM map service tool to render non-ASCII labels correctly and fix its non-working popups, or replace that tool.
- Add the OSM map rendered by Wikimedia (allow choosing the base layer in the selected tool)
- Add other integrable national map layers (e.g. those from France or UK: Cadastre/Ordnance Survey, high-resolution satellite views) there's a list on the OSM website, or in OSM editors like JOSM and iD... No need to create an option in the template, the service should just use locale user preferences and should propose these base map layers in its UI (posibly using automatically a default worldwide layer if the base map is regional only and does not cover the area).
- Add "Export as OSM", "Export as SHP", "Export as GeoJSON" (useful various open map editors), may be restore the missing "Export as GeoRSS".
