Abstract:
Media influences human behavior, emotions, states-of-mind, health and sense of wellbeing, with great potential for a positive impact in our lives, and it is becoming pervasive. Advances and discoveries in the field of neurosciences and informatics have the potential to help people in emotional and wellbeing awareness and regulation, in a positive computing perspective. Our project aims to explore this potential around the design and development of an interactive application that allows the access, exploration and visualization of different media, based on their impact on emotional and meditative states. This paper presents scientific background, design choices, functionalities and a user study of this application. Results were very encouraging in terms of perceived efficacy, usefulness, usability and user experience and will inform future directions.
