LEAD Graduate School & Research Network article

Cheers Community! Last week I first joined Wikipedia & wrote an article about an important institute at my university. Here it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:LEAD_Graduate_School_%26_Research_Network Now I am not sure, if my draft is already getting checked/reviewed or if I still need to do something to get this article published. Thanks for you help - would be great. Best! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adnyhiwi (talkcontribs) 10:22, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Before worrying about getting it reviewed, there are other very significant issues. The article seems to be largely copied from here which makes it a copyright violation. Wikipedia has a zero tolerance of copyright violations so it will need to be completely re-written in your own words. Even close paraphrasing of the original is not permitted. I would suggest starting again using the article wizard which will automatically provide the inbuilt processes for submitting it for review when it is ready. Hope that this helps  Velella  Velella Talk   11:26, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Help:Cite errors/Cite error ref too many keys

This appears to relate to Oghenekaro Itene. I could not see any cite errors when looking at the page but recent edits are not up to standard. Article will need quite a bit of work to bring it more into line. I have left a welcome message at the OP's TP and also some hopefully useful comments. Eagleash (talk)

    Building-Site-Template?

    Dear people,

in the german wikipedia, i do start new articles in my namefield and add a template stating that this is not yet a wikipedia-article, but a building-site. Is there a similar template to add here? {{Baustelle}} ? --Gyanda (talk) 13:30, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

The interlanguage links in the left pane of de:Vorlage:Baustelle include an English link to {{Under construction}}. But {{Userspace draft}} sounds better for your purpose. See more at Category:Under-construction templates. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:48, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

    Merge help

I was browsing through Category:Possible cut-and-paste moves, trying to understand the whole process, and I ran across this redirect. This was not a copy-and-paste as far as I can tell. It looks like it was a stub that was converted to a redirect. But it also doesn't look like it was officially merged - is this a problem? Should I simply tag the talk page of the redirect with {{nahmc|<destination page>}} so that the bot will ignore it, or is it better to do some sort of retroactive merge, since there is a little bit of content on the talk page? Leschnei (talk) 13:41, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

The intent behind the decision to redirect was to avoid merging that content into the article. So, it is ok that it is not merged. Ruslik_Zero 20:37, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Ruslik0: So in cases where a redirect is preferable to a merge, the redirect talk page is left as is? And should the nahmc template be used to get the article off of the 'potential cut-and-paste' page? (If the best answer is to do nothing and ignore the cut-and-paste page, I can live with that too. Just trying to understand). Thanks for your help, Leschnei (talk) 20:56, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
When an article is turned into a redirect the talk page usually stays. Ans as this is not a ct-and-paste move then the category should be removed. Ruslik_Zero 20:34, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

    Photo Upload

Can I upload a scan of map from Detailed Project Report of a public highway/railway project? The DPR is publicly available to download at government website. For example for Delhi-Panipat RRTS can I upload the map from the DPR available here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ankit2 (talkcontribs) 14:59, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Ankit2. I don't see a copyright notice anywhere on the document, so the default assumption must be that it is subject to copyright, and may not be uploaded without an explicit release from the copyright holder. It may be that there is an explicit statement somewhere that publications of the NCRPB are in the public domain (as many publications of the US Federal Government are); but it is up to you to find such a statement. --ColinFine (talk) 17:01, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

How can I delete an incorrect link?

NASA Distinguished Service Medal (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

On the NASA Distinguished Service Medal Page for 1969 there is a link to a page for John F. Clark - this guy is a US Marshall and has nothing to do with NASA - this link needs to be removed and I cannot figure out how to remove it... — Preceding unsigned comment added by MickieB (talkcontribs) 18:57, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@MickieB: Please provide a link to pages you refer to on talk pages or here at the help desk. The link seems incorrect as the page for John F. Clark does refer to a US Marshall and does not appear to mention a NASA connection. To remove the link to the Wiki page, remove the square brackets. To remove the entry altogether, just delete the text...although there is always the possibility that there is another person of the same name who does hold the medal. Please sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 19:15, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
@MickieB:@Eagleash:The 3rd External link on the Award's page is a NASA list of all NASA awards, and shows that a John F. Clark did work for NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Centre, and did receive this award (he'd won a different one a few years earlier, too). However, he's clearly not the JFC with a Wikipedia article who, though possibly eligible for the award through his employment ("The medal may be presented to any member of the federal government, including both military astronauts and civilian employees.") was from his article's photo clearly too young to have been receiving such awards in the 1960s. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.217.210.199 (talk) 20:25, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Using a website written in a foreign language as a reference

Is it OK in English Wikipedia to use a website written in a foreign language as a reference ?--Penbat (talk) 19:27, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes, so long as the website is otherwise an acceptable source. Sources in English are preferred, but sources on other languages are certainly acceptable. Maproom (talk) 19:30, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict):Yes, the relevant policy is at WP:NOENG. Basically if you have two sources, one in english and the other not, the english is preferred, but it is quite reasonable to use only those in a foreign language if that is all you have.Naraht (talk) 19:31, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

    • The best non-delete rationale is to show that the band as a whole (and not the individual members) has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the band. If you can do that, then say so and list those sources in the article. If you can't, then the article doesn't meet our inclusion criteria. CrowCaw 20:38, 6 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

The reference "UKA1" (which was empty) had no closing </ref>, which messed with the following ref – the one that defined "IRE". That caused the repeated invocations of IRE to become undefined. Dairy{talk} 01:36, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Help:Cite errors/Cite error references missing key

I just published Joseph O. Carter and getting this error message: Cite error: A list-defined reference named "FOOTNOTELili.CA.BBuokalani1898290" is not used in the content (see the help page).

(edit conflict)I *think* the issue is that it is trying to make a footnote out of the name that you are using, but can't handle the ʻOkina in Queen Lili'uokalani's name which is probably something in Unicode. My guess is that the {{sfn|Liliʻuokalani|1898|p=290}} is creating that. I'd guess if you changed that sfn and the location that it refers to need to be changed to something that is in the standard ascii and the error will be fixed.Naraht (talk) 00:55, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

    John Adams

I tried posting this on the article's talk page about 12 hours ago. The problem still isn't fixed, so I'll ask my question here. I made an edit to John Adams which added 508 characters worth of content. When I saved it, I saw that several previous sections had somehow been removed. When I click the [edit] button and scroll down through the text, everything looks normal. This is entirely unlike anything I have encountered in the nearly 14,000 edits that I've made to Wikipedia. I offer my thanks to anyone taking a look at this. Display name 99 (talk) 02:23, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

    Filter problem

I used to regularly use the autobiography filter linked from Possible autobiographies or COI – detected by filter 148 (edit filter log) and filter 188 (edit filter log) which typically gave me a list here of new articles where the article title and user name were the same or similar, enabling me to take appropriate action. There were always several items there. Recently the page was revamped, with five boxes appearing at the top of the page, and the content of the page I see hasn't changed since Oct 1. It's unlikely that suddenly no one is writing COI articles, so presumably either the filters are broken, or there is something I need to do to see results since Oct 1, but I have no idea what. Any thoughts? Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:19, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Jimfbleak: Filter 188 was disabled some years ago. The results for filter 148 show that it has been working normally in the past week, but all the pages involved have already been deleted. So it's probably correct that nothing shows up at Special:RecentChanges, at least for me as a non-admin. Did admins see red links at Special:RecentChanges before the recent software update? -- John of Reading (talk) 07:08, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Multiple articles erroneously state Nadezhda (cockroach) was the first earth creature to give birth in space

I have already corrected Cockroach and Animals in space but many pages link to Nadezhda (cockroach). Is there some way to check all the other articles that link to Nadezhda (cockroach) and correct this error other than looking at each article, one by one? Dyspeptic skeptic (talk) 11:09, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Just to clarify, this cockroach was sent into space where it conceived, and then produced young when back on earth? So what is the erroneous statement these articles are making? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:42, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Actually, hardly any of the articles in the "What links here?" actually link to the page. They are all appearing there because, like the page Diploptera, they have a "Cockroach" template at the bottom which includes a link to Nadezhda (cockroach). So most of your results are false positives. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:55, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
This only gives four results: insource:Nadezhda linksto:"Nadezhda (cockroach)". PrimeHunter (talk) 13:06, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. In addition to the two aforementioned articles, that shows the disambiguation page (which I forgot that I had edited, but I need to correct my edit) and Foton (satellite). I'll edit those now. Dyspeptic skeptic (talk) 13:30, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
O.K., thanks. The erroneous statement was that Nadezhda gave birth in space. Not only did she simply conceive mate in space, her offspring may have emerged from eggs, as an editor of Nadezhda (cockroach) noted in an edit summary. Dyspeptic skeptic (talk) 13:30, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

How to create a new page in a series based on pre-existing pages

I am interested in starting a new page on next year's referendum on electoral reform in British Columbia, Canada. There is an existing series of articles tied in to a navigation box connecting to related elections and referenda (see 2009 BC Referendum page). I would like to replicate the structure of the existing page on the 2009 referendum (i.e., the new page would be ...reform_referendum,2018). I have experience editing pages, but not how to create a new page so that it's properly inserted into these reference structures. I can't find specific instructions on how to do this in the FAQs. Could you please point me in the right direction? AntonyHodgson (talk) 16:15, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@AntonyHodgson: Writing an article for Wikipedia is harder than many people realize. Even professional writers find that the format and style needed for a good encyclopedia article are different than what might be appropriate for other venues. You could:
    • Get someone else to do it—If your only goal is to make sure that an article is added to Wikipedia, you can request that someone write an article on the subject.
    • Start by editing other articles—If you are interested in becoming an editor at Wikipedia, our experience demonstrates that it is better to start by improving existing articles, which will help you get a sense of how this place works, and then you will be ready to write your first article from scratch. A good place to visit is the Wikipedia backlog, where there are literally hundreds of thousands of articles needing help from editors. Find an article in a subject area you know, and add a source, or a reference, or simply help write it better.
    • Go ahead and try—If you do decide to write an article immediately, please read our policy on conflicts of interest, then read our guide to writing your first article, which will repeat some of the good advice above. Then please use the Article wizard, which will help you through the steps. I urge you to accept the option to save your first draft in your user subpage, which will reduce the chance your work will be deleted before it is ready.
You could always copy the source code of the British Columbia electoral reform referendum, 2009 page (by clicking "edit source"), then pasting it into the new page, changing the text as needed, but making sure that you say in the edit summary (or on the talk page) that you copied the code. This will help you keep the same formatting.  Seagull123  Φ  18:44, 7 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@VJackson: This question is the only edit your account has saved. It's possible to save drafts without logging in. We can search for a page if you say what is was about. But many new users misunderstand the interface and incorrectly think they have saved a page when they have only previewed it or were missing a step. Format issue with reference numbers

I created a map in Veiholmen, a short article with little prose. So the map wasn't lost down under the infobox, I put it on the left side. With narrow screen widths, everything is fine. But with larger screen widths, the References sections moves up to the right of this map and the ref numbers are obscured under the map. It looks like the Reference section indenting doesn't work properly if the section isn't at the left margin. Any advice? MB 03:38, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@MB: I hadn't seen this post, but for unrelated reasons I was fixing something in that article, and I reduced the size of the map and repositioned it to avoid the unsightly river of text between the map and the infobox. The map may be "lost down under the infobox" now, but I think the article's layout is better. Deor (talk) 19:11, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

    Photomontage

Could someone help me with creating a photomontage? I thought it would look nicer than putting in a gallery, and there isn't enough space to put all the photos in by themselves. My efforts on the sandbar section of the page Point Walter on this edition of the page didn't go so well. If someone could swoop in and format it nicely that would be much appreciated. Did I do this template conversion right?

In Special:Diff/804328730, I converted the rows of a large table full of numbers in CAS latency to use helper templates Draft:CAS latency group and Draft:CAS latency row to do the computations and format the rows. You're welcome to opine on whether that spreadsheet should be in Wikipedia at all, but I wonder if I did a reasonable job with the templates. Are the names okay? Documentation needs improvement? Any other comments?

Basically, what should I do before moving the templates out of draft space?

I could eliminate the "thirds" argument and derive it from the last digit of the frequency using

    {{#switch:{{#expr:{{{frequency}}} mod 10}}|3=1|6=2|7=-1|0}}

but is it worth the complexity?

This is a little WP:BOLDer than my usual edits, so I'd like to solicit review. 104.153.72.218 (talk) 08:08, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, The Falcons. I'm sorry to break this to you, but you do not have a profile. Nobody has a profile on Wikipedia: that's not the sort of site it is. If we have an article about you, then that is what it is: an encyclopaedia article about you, which is (or should be) almost entirely based on what people who are not connected with you have published about you: what you say or want to say is of little interest or relevance to Wikipedia. If we have an article on you, and you think there should be changes to it, you are welcome to suggest changes on the article's talk page, but should not edit the article directly: see WP:AUTO#IFEXIST.
If you're not thinking about an article about you, but somewhere to share a bit about yourself: any editor may have a User page (you haven't created yours yet) on which they may share some information about themselves if they wish, but it should mostly be information about themselves as a Wikipedia editor. But beyond that, you should look for a site other than Wikipedia. --ColinFine (talk) 10:03, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hello, The Falcons. I'm sorry to break something else to you, but Wikipedia does not allow user names that represent a group. organisation or band. You will need to create a new account or change your username, or if the account is to be used by only one individual, then this should be made clear on your user page. Wikipedia is not a site where you can promote the band. Dbfirs 11:48, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

    Citation title

I corrected information on this page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparkling_wine#Canada and used this URL as my reference. How do I add a title for this citation? What else am I missing? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tcdn (talkcontribs) 15:22, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Tcdn:   Fixed: You need a |title= parameter as well as an access date. Please see Template:Cite web for more information and WP:REFB for a basic guide to adding references. The source may not be considered WP:RS as it is basically a blog using a free web-hosting platform. See WP:UGC. Eagleash (talk) 15:48, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Tcdn: Special:Diff/804372274, made just after yours, provides the answer. As for other information:
    • |accessdate= is recommended for web pages and other sources that are subject to later editing
    • |date=March 13, 2012 would be nice to include, since the source is dated
    • |first=Sarah and |last=Goddard to identify the author
    • |website=Sommelier Scribbler – A Wine Blog describes the source better.
    Put together, that results in:
Goddard, Sarah (13 March 2012). "Sparkling Icewine – Uniquely Canadian". Sommelier Scribbler – A Wine Blog. Retrieved 8 October 2017.

Florence Mary Bird - I created This page and it has been deleted and sent to DRAFT status

    Draft:Florence Mary Bird (edit | [[Talk:Draft:Florence Mary Bird|talk]] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    Dear Editor(s),

A page that I created titled Florence Mary Bird has been deleted and sent to DRAFT. Being new to Wikipedia I am sure that some of the issues that led to the deletion are valid. However, several of the main reasons seem totally bogus and, with all due respect, RIDICULOUS. Florence Mary Bird is in fact a well-know American artist (sculptor) and the page I created on her behalf (she is 87 years old and has little or no computer experience - certainly not with Wikipedia. In effect, by removing her page, you have blatantly ignored a LIFETIME of well-known work. The photographs and several news articles CLEARLY demonstrate PROOF that she is in fact a well-known artist with a 70+ year career and many, many works (some costing hundreds of thousands of dollars) are installed in State Parks in the U.S., and editors are saying she needs to provide more notable references. We've included news clips, the websites from the STATE parks, news articles, etc. so I have no idea why her "notability" would be called into questions. Additionally, ALL of the artwork used in the page are the subject's OWN WORK is was clearly stated in all of the uploads. Also, as the author, someone called into question me having a CONFLICT OF INTEREST (COI) as one of the primary reasons for deletion of the page. That is ABSURD. I have no financial, personal or business relationship with the subject - - other than attempting to create her wiki page (at no cost). This is me helping an 87-year-old artist with no computer experience to be listed via a Wiki page. I understand that Wiki has rules and guidelines and I have made every effort to attempt to address said issues. Removing this artist from Wikipedia is in my opinion short-sighted and an affront to her lifetime career as an artist. I have attempted to address said issues but I also see in many of the comments, that other editors are also calling into question the page removal over things like some of the photos.

I find the REPLY system difficult to reply to (again, most likely my fault as a fairly new author) but this has become a ridiculously time consuming effort to provide information about a legitimate artist. Anyone with an ounce of sense can see that this person (Florence Mary Bird) is in fact a legitimate artist with well-know works of art in PUBLIC parks and I have provided what I believe is valid support of that. Anything you can do to help me see this project through to completion would be appreciated. Bob — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bob Schiers (talkcontribs) 18:28, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Its fate was discussed in Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Florence_Mary_Bird. You should have argued your case there. Anyway the article was not deleted, which means that you can improve it by adding appropriate reliable sources and then request a new review. Ruslik_Zero 20:19, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Bob Schiers: Hello Bob, in addition to what Ruslik has said, there are a number of posts and links at your talk page which give helpful advice. Please take the time to read all carefully and follow the advice. The main problem with the page seems to be the lack of inline citations (see WP:REFB for how to add these) and to a lesser extent that the article has not been written from an entirely neutral point of view this is quite important in an encyclopedia and it is often difficult for persons with a connection to a subject to address that particular issue. The page was not deleted at the AfD mentioned above as it was felt that it had a good deal of potential and was moved to draftspace so that you could continue to develop it with less likelihood of it being nominated for deletion. Please also see WP:NOTABILITY and WP:GNG in respect of establishing a person's notability in the Wikipedia sense, This requires substantial cover in mainstream reliable sources written by persons independent of the subject. If as you say, you find the process a bit long-winded and difficult for a new user, you are probably right about that, but other editors will usually 'point you in the right direction' but not necessarily write the article for you. Good luck. Please return here with any specific queries you may have. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 20:55, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

How can I change the title of my Wikipedia page?

Hi! My name is Nemr Abou Nassar, my wikipedia page is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nemr_Abou_Nassar

I'm a stand up comedian and I dropped my last name long ago, about three years ago, and just go by Nemr. My wikipedia page however is titled Nemr Abou Nassar and it constantly causes problems whenever there is press involving me you'll see my Last name pop up.

Is there a way to change it to Nemr? Or do I have to make an entirely new page? In which case is there a way to delete this one so we don't have two versions?

    Thank you!

    All the best,

Nemr — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nemrcomedy (talkcontribs) 19:40, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

There are two far more important things before the article title is sorted. You shouldn't edit articles that are about you (please read WP:COI - it's important). Also, it is not your Wikipedia page, it is the Wikipedia article about you, you have no control over its content, beyond pointing out error's and omissions. (Please see WP:OWN) - X201 (talk) 19:59, 8 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
    • I have created what we at Wikipedia call a redirect page. This means that if anyone searches in Wikipedia for "Nemr", they will automatically be transferred to the page "Nemr Abou Nassar", so there will be no need now to change the name of that page. Creating new Subcategory?

Hi, all. There does exist a Category Category:Art genres - and i would like to add a subcategory on "Object art" - as the artist i'm just writing about is doing Object art and is an "Object artist" and i cannot find a subcategory, which would be appropriate for this. I saw performance art and installation art - but both does not reflect, what this artist does and there are lots of other artists, who would perhaps qualify for this subcategory i believe. First question is - is it okay to just add a new subcategory? I read Creating Category Pages and it sounds as if it wasn't too difficult. Second question would be, how to fill in the description of this subcategory. Third question - would it perhaps be better to add Object artist in place of Object art.

I found a Wikipedia-article on Objet d'art - wouldn't it make sense to add a site Object art, which would forward to this french term - as this term is not very widely known, but Object art seems to be known better? Would be thankful for help. Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 11:13, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

A few suggestions, even though I don't know much about this. I think there are two simple things here that probably won't be objected to
    1. making Object art a redirect to Objet d'art and
    2. adding Objet d'art to the Category:Art genres.
As for the subcat. I'd drop a note to the WP:ART for suggestions. My most negative comment is that you shouldn't confuse what should go into the genres with what should go into the Artists. In short Michaelangelo and his works shouldn't flow to the same categories, one is a person, the other his works.Naraht (talk) 13:16, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Naraht, this helps. Will work on it tomorrow. Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 13:22, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure what "Object art" is, Gyanda, but I would assume it is a kind or genre of art. It does not seem appropriate to me redirect it to Objet d'art, which refers not to a kind of art, but a kind of object. --ColinFine (talk) 16:30, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi, ColinFine, in the article it says but in practice the term has long been reserved in English to describe works of art that are not paintings, large or medium-sized sculptures, prints or drawings. - and that is a good explanation of what Object art is - at least kind of an explanation. I will talk about this on the WP:ART section, perhaps they also have suggestions. Thank you for taking the time to answer me. Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 19:49, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
"Objet d'art" is an established term for a small collectible. See the Art & Architecture Thesaurus "Object Art" is sometimes used to refer to 60s minimalism. The two are completely separate. Mduvekot (talk) 20:18, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Mduvekot, thanks for your comment. I'll look at it again, too sad that there is no proper category for object art. Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 23:56, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

ref name irritation in the Heiner Thiel-article

Hi, all. I worked on the article today and now the result is: Cite error: A list-defined reference named "ref9" is not used in the content (see the help page). The same is ther for ref10, 11 and 12 - i looked it up - all the entries i made for reference concerning this numbers (chapter art in public spaces and curatorial work don't have a ref name= at all. I do not understand, where all these ref names are coming from - they count from number 2-12 - but i did not formate it this way. And as the references do have not ref name in the formatting, i do not know, how to get ridd of this redmarked info at the bottom of the article. I apologize for this - i just don't understand how it happened. Would someone be so kind to have a look at the article and explain to me, what i did wrong? Thanks in advance and Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 16:03, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Gyanda. What's going on is that the references (or at least the one relating to Offenes Quadrat - I haven't checked further) are now defined in two places. You have an unnamed reference to it in the "Art in public places" section, but you also have a reference to it, with name 'ref9' in the References section. The warning is that that named reference is not actually used. I haven't looked at the history to see how that came about, but the easiest fix is simply to remove the named copy from the References section, leaving the active one in the other section.
On another subject, in my opinion, there are far too many works and collections listed. An article on an artist should mention or discuss only the works that the sources focus on, not contain an exhaustive list. --ColinFine (talk) 16:44, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you that you took the time to look on it. I will try to delete all ref name-references. I just don't understand, how they got there? Could this have been done by a bot? And also thanks for the info that the list of exhibitions is too long, i translated it from the german version of the site and there they seem to like long lists... i'll work on it! Hi Kristen, it was not deleted maliciously. The deletion reasoning on 10/6 was "This is nothing at all--at best it's a product name. Nothing I saw on the internet (of things) makes this pass the GNG." This means that the subject of the article wasn't notable or verifiable. Please check these two articles out before resubmitting. Hello, KatyZaseva. What you have is a content dispute, and you should follow the processes in WP:dispute resolution, starting with your best efforts to reach consensus. I am well aware that the status of the Macedonian language is the subject of a bitter dispute in the region: Wikipedia will not take sides on this issue, but in any given case will follow what the reliable published sources say. We work on consensus, and you will probably be more readily able to reach consensus if you discuss the matter collaboratively than come in shouting about justice. --ColinFine (talk) 22:31, 9 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

This most likely refers to Osu caste system#Origin, but I notice that the reference for the relevant sentence links to a source that does not appear to support the assertion, although it is relevant to the article's overall subject.
OP, the place to discuss this is on the article's Talk page, here. I can see a case for removing the claim, but I'd prefer experienced editors, preferably with some knowledge of the subject, to find an appropriate and definive replacement reference in a reliable source and come to a concensus rather than being bold myself, and I suspect you yourself lack the Wikipedia expertise to do this. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.217.210.199 (talk) 02:00, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Where do I report a user for WP:HOUNDING? Can you familiarize me with the process? Thank you. Tarook97 (talk) 03:04, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Tarook97. The section Wikipedia:Harassment#Dealing with harassment gives various options, of which WP:ANI is one commonly used to report such incidents. However, may I caution you to be perfectly sure about any hounding occurring, before taking up such a report? If the issue is emanating from the recent issue at WP:AN/3RR, that is not hounding. I would suggest that you should just get on with editing, while reducing contentious additions to respective articles – or in fact, ignore the said articles and edit other articles. Wikipedia is a large repository and you'll find many articles to improve. Please feel free to ask for any clarification here (or on my talk page if you are unsure of disclosing details here). Thanks. (Edit conflict) hate hounding. WP:ANI is your best bet. If the user is following you from place to place run the names through http://tools.wmflabs.org/sigma/editorinteract.py and link the results page in your complaint. If your hands are clean you may be able to secure at least a 1 way IBAN or maybe a block depending on how strong your evidence is. If you post your evidence to my talk page or give me a link to your sandboxed evidence I'll take a look for you before you go to ANi. You need to be very careful hecause ANi can bommarang and you get sanctions. Legacypac (talk)

That's quite unnecessary; the user is me, and there is no need for Tarook97 to prove I periodically check their contribs; it is obvious I do so and I am happy to admit it since I do so for the legitimate purpose of "fixing unambiguous errors or violations of Wikipedia policy, or correcting related problems on multiple articles." They are a persistent edit warrior (just back from their fourth block, I think, of two weeks), which is an unambiguous violation of Wikipedia policy.
Of course at some point in the future they may learn the lesson, but I don't hold out much hope given that they were barely half a dozen edits in after the block ran out before, er, reverting again the thing they got blocked for reverting repeatedly (and of course even if I never looked at their contribs I would have been perfectly aware of that fifth revert because I watchlist the page in question). Sure Pinkbeast. I understand your viewpoint. Every editor makes mistakes. Tarook has also made mistakes and has been provided feedback of the same. I would suggest extending a helping and guiding hand again to him. If he continues the mistake, he'll obviously be sounded off. But that doesn't necessarily mean he would continue in the same mode right now. No harm assuming good faith. Cheers. Lourdes 04:31, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

    Page name title change

Hi, Our orgnaisation has recently changed it's registered name. We would like to change the name on the organisation's Wiki page to reflect our current status. I have read help pages but I am still unclear of the process. Could you please advise how to change the page title?

    Seem to have page vandalism

SwisterTwister ‎edited and removed content from page under false claims. The page was Rocky Mountain Performance Excellence. No prior content can be found due to the way in which SwisterTwister deleted the content. Please help by blocking this person. We now have to totally recreate the page to get past review.
