== Data at Rest ==

The definition fo Data at Rest given in the text is in conflict witrh the definition (very confusing) given in the image. It leaves an ambiguity on which is the status of data on a database on disk, if the database is being used. Is it at rest or in use? The most intuitive and accepted definition is that data that resides on a permanent storage media, either being accessed or not, is "at rest", becuase its existence does not depends, for instance, from the disk being powered-on. :I agree, the definition can be improved. I like the definition on [https://www.digitalguardian.com/blog/data-protection-data-in-transit-vs-data-at-rest digitalguardian] "Data at rest is data that is not actively moving from device to device or network to network". Optionally such data can be stored on a media found efficient for that type of access, as USB removable device, a tape, etc... that don't need to be ready-to-use and may have a good capacity/cost ratio. I agree, the definition can be improved. I like the definition on digitalguardian "Data at rest is data that is not actively moving from device to device or network to network".
