Doesn't this article sound a bit "fannish"? Is it really necessary to list the other members of the cast of Emergency!, for example, twice and by their character names as well as their real names? Also, the article claims Mr. Mantooth is a "prolific" actor, yet only a very few roles are mentioned. His civic activities and honors appear (I have not done a word count or some such) to be mentioned in more detail than his acting achievements and credits. Don't get me wrong, I loved Emergency! growing up, and Mr. Mantooth did a fine job. I just think this page should reflect on him better than it currently does... is he not worthy of a serious, non-"fannish" approach? If I were qualified to do so, I would attempt to improve. Thank you. 69.29.69.28 (talk) 01:59, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

In Need of Severe Cleanup
Hooo boy. I agree with the above comment, and even more. This article is a train wreck in so many ways that I can't even list them all. In addition to being overly adoring, it's sloppily written and unclear in many places. I've made a few grammar changes, including changing the assertion that he forged a "wonderful" relationship with Julie London and her husband to a "close relationship" in the interest of objectivity, but take a look at this para for examples:
<blockquote>Mantooth was prepared for the lead role in the play Philadelphia Here I Come, after performing in the popular production of How to Laugh on Stage. His performance as Gar had honored him with the Charles Jehlenger Award, an honor he shared with fellow actor Brad Davis. It was there he received a contract with Universal Studios in 1968, after giving the offer some serious consideration, he was willing to accept it, hence, he left New York to move back to California, where he guest-starred in a variety of shows.</blockquote>

Year of birth
First, the names of both plays should be linked. Second, the first two sentences are lifted verbatim from the actor's website. I'm rather curious about how many other lines we would find to have been swiped if we gave this a thorough reading and cleansing. The passage gives no indication of where these performances were (community theater? Broadway?) and are just grammatically wrong on a number of levels. Plus, the name of the award is misspelled. It's Charles Jehlinger. I could go on, but it's kind of exhausting and frustrating. --LiteratePervert (talk) 22:49, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Removal of header Friendship with Julie London
In this edit, I removed the header Friendship with Julie London. Yes, it's nice the cast of E all remained friends, but a separate section is unnecessary because as prolific as this actor is, he must have other close friends that he has kept in touch with as well from the numerous movies, TV shows, and soaps he has done, and they can't all be mentioned in their own sections either. I also removed the first part of the section because the only statement the source provides at johnnysgreenpen is that his father was a fan of Julie's music and that his father did not get to meet him. Period. Therefore, this was removed: As a little boy of the 1950s, Mantooth, along with his family, was a fan of Julie London's music, despite the fact his father didn't meet him, then, years later, Randy co-starred alongside her and second husband, Troup, on Emergency!, with the insistence of London's ex-husband Jack Webb. The rest of the paragraph was well sourced, kept, and moved to the Emergency section where this information is more relevant. Cheers. Removal of extraneous material regarding Julie London. Despite the fact it was sourced from the Emmy TV Legends interview, however, the description of a visit to her home and the effort to get her to sing again does not support the topic that it was entered in, Emergency! It is great that kept the friendship but that is something that is outside of the realm of the show. Echoing an earlier post, the material was extraneous and did not tell the story of the show or Mantooth's career. ~~NDakotaCelt~~ . <small><span class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding unsigned comment added by NDakotaCelt (talk • contribs) 20:56, 27 April 2014 (UTC)</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

:Correct. He appeared in two episodes. One, in 1971, almost a year before Emergency! started airing, where he played a chip-on-the-shoulder ranch-hand who is suspected of theft from this employer; the other, in Fall 1972, where he played his Emergency! character in a cross-over episode. Removal of header Friendship with Julie London

[edit]

In this edit, I removed the header Friendship with Julie London. Yes, it's nice the cast of E all remained friends, but a separate section is unnecessary because as prolific as this actor is, he must have other close friends that he has kept in touch with as well from the numerous movies, TV shows, and soaps he has done, and they can't all be mentioned in their own sections either. I also removed the first part of the section because the only statement the source provides at johnnysgreenpen is that his father was a fan of Julie's music and that his father did not get to meet him. Period. Therefore, this was removed: As a little boy of the 1950s, Mantooth, along with his family, was a fan of Julie London's music, despite the fact his father didn't meet him,[1] then, years later, Randy co-starred alongside her and second husband, Troup, on Emergency!, with the insistence of London's ex-husband Jack Webb. The rest of the paragraph was well sourced, kept, and moved to the Emergency section where this information is more relevant. Cheers. ♫ Cricket02 (talk) 05:27, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of extraneous material regarding Julie London. Despite the fact it was sourced from the Emmy TV Legends interview, however, the description of a visit to her home and the effort to get her to sing again does not support the topic that it was entered in, Emergency!
