The 2005 North Indian Ocean tropical cyclone season runs from late April and ends in December; peaking in May and November.

The scope of this article is limited to the Indian Ocean north of the equator, more specifically the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Tropical Storms formed in this region are assigned a name by the India Meteorological Department in New Delhi. Tropical depressions in this basin are assigned either an "A" suffix (Arabian Sea) or "B" suffix (Bay of Bengal) by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC).
