History
2010: Debut and Something That Is Cheerful and Fresh
Just under three weeks since their debut, the group followed up "Too Late" with a second single, "Bbiribbom Bberibbom" (삐리뽐 빼리뽐). The music video for the song was recorded on October 11, 2010, and features T-ara member Ham Eun-jeong. The video, along with a second music video for ballad "Nae Simjangeul Ttwige Haneun Mar" (내 심장을 뛰게 하는 말 "I Love You A Thousand Times"), was released on October 18. The single itself was released on October 19, and they performed "Bbiribbom Bberibbom" for the first time the next day on M! Countdown. "Bbiribbom Bberibbom" has so far peaked at number 61 on the Gaon Chart.

The group originally debuted with 6 male and 4 female members: Soomi, Kwanghaeng, Yoosung, Taewoon, Kangho, Chanmi, Noori, Hyoyoung, Hyewon, and Sungmin. The female subunit, 5dolls, made their debut in 2011 and the male subunit, Speed, in 2013.
The group's debut mini album, Something That Is Cheerful and Fresh, was released on October 28, 2010. It features the three previously released songs and various remixes. Despite being limited to 20,000 copies, Core Contents Media announced that the album had received 50,000 pre-orders.

Coed School (Korean: 남녀공학, "Namnyeo Gonghak") is a South Korean idol group formed by Core Contents Media in 2010.

The group originally debuted with 6 male and 4 female members:[1] Soomi, Kwanghaeng, Yoosung, Taewoon, Kangho, Chanmi, Noori, Hyoyoung, Hyewon, and Sungmin. Their first single "Too Late" was released in late September 2010; followed by "Bbiribbom Bberibbom" and later by their debut mini-album Something That is Cheerful and Fresh. The female subunit, 5dolls, made their debut in 2011 and the male subunit, Speed, in 2013.

The group has gone through many line-up changes since their debut; the current line-up consists of 7 male and 6 female members.

History

Debut and Something That is Cheerful and Fresh

All ten members used a four-character stage name during their debut: Smile Soomi (미소수미), Star Light Chanmi (별빛찬미), One Light Hyoyoung (한빛효영), One Star Hyewon (한별혜원), Rascal Kwangheng (악동광행), Sky Earth Yoosung (천지유성), Sage Taewoon (지혜태운), Hot Blood Kangho (열혈강호), Balance Noori (가온누리), and Solid Sungmin (알찬성민). By February 8, 2012, the group no longer used a four-character stage name.

The group's 2010 debut single was "Too Late", followed three weeks later by a second single, "Bbiribbom Bberibbom" in October. The music video for "Bbiribbom Bberibbom" featured T-ARA's Ham Eun-jeong. "Bbiribbom Bberibbom" peaked at number 61 on the Gaon Chart.[2]

The group's debut mini album, Something That Is Cheerful and Fresh, was released on October 28, 2010. The album received 50,000 pre-orders.[3]

A halt was put on Coed School's activities after separate photos of Kangho and Noori, both who were considered minors at the time, at a bar drinking with friends surfaced online.[4][5]

2011-Present: Sub-Unit Activity and Line-Up Changes

The four female members of the group along with a new member, Seo Eungyo, became 5dolls.[6] On January 20, 5dolls released two promotional videos featuring Jay Park, one called "Lip Stains" and the other one called "It's You". 5dolls released their first mini album on February 16, 2011 and debuted on Mnet's M! Countdown on February 17.[7]

Kangho left in November 2011 to focus on acting, and was replaced by Shin Jongkook.[8][9]

In February 2012, Coed School was moved to Mnet Media's sub-label, GM Contents Media. Coed School's leader, Soomi, decided to pursue a solo career and withdrew from the group. She was replaced by Nayeon, and in addition to her, Sejoon was added.[10][11] Speed then released their digital single Lovey Dovey Plus. Although it was not considered the official debut of Speed, they promoted this song on various broadcasting stations.

It was revealed in September 2012, that Chanmi, Noori and Kwanghaeng left Coed School, and its respective sub-units.[12] Three new members were then added in October 2012: female member, Shannon Pix, and two male members, Yuhwan and Taeha.[citation needed]

On January 14, 2013,Speed officially debuted with "It's Over". The group made their debut stage on Mnet's M! Countdown on January 17. Speed later ased a repackaged album, Blow Speed, and continued promotions with their follow-up song "Pain".

In April 2013, Core Contents Media confirmed that new female member Jihyun was added to the group.[13]that 5dolls, now a six member group, is expecting to have their comeback sometime is 2013. [14]
