Sportsfan 1234, Thanks for your efforts, I see you've done a lot of good work, and it is appreciated! I would like to ask you to consider a re-evaluation of your deletion proposals for PBA basketball players. While some of them may not be notable, searching http://www.philstar.com rather than just google results in a lot of information that doesn't come up on Google. A couple of these guys are eminently notable, you may want to consider withdrawing them. Others probably deserve a discussion. It takes an extra effort with foreign article subjects to avoid English language and other WP:BIAS. It's entirely up to you, you may still feel all these articles deserve deletion, but I thought you might have missed these sources. Again, thanks for your efforts to improve the encyclopedia!Jacona (talk) 13:33, 16 January 2018 (UTC) |

:Further checking, at the Manila Standard and the Philippines Daily Inquirer, has revealed much, much more significant coverage on these subjects. These are just the most obvious English-Language Philippine Newspapers, and these subjects are so well-covered that it's to the point of ridiculous to consider them for AfD. There are far more Tagalog papers than English, and one would suspect that these likely also cover the subject matter.Jacona (talk) 20:47, 16 January 2018 (UTC) |

TA29 Leg 1
Just tell me what to do. This is good correct information that comes directly from London, one of the contestants on the show. I tried to put it into a correct reference format and you still got rid of it and threaten to ban me. Tell me what to do. 96.48.238.205 (talk) 03:16, 6 November 2017 (UTC) [1] Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 05:08, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
Natalie Gal page deletion
Thank you for the alert regarding the Natalie Gal being considered for deletion. I really don't know what the problem with this page is, nor do I know it could be improved, apart from renaming it to "Natasha Galkina", which is the name it should've had in the first page, but I don't know how to rename it. If the page is to be deleted, very well. (DarkDancer06 (talk) 23:14, 11 November 2017 (UTC))
bobsleigh
i was using the IBSF rankings list until they disappeared yesterday. There were rankings as soon as the World Cup rankings were posted, for some reason the World Cup rankings came back down. Very annoying.18abruce (talk) 22:55, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- Bizarre that they would just remove it. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:12, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- It seemed that as soon as Europe Cup rankings were posted, the World Cup rankings disappeared. Likely was some kind of error, hopefully corrected soon.18abruce (talk) 23:20, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
Re: Proposed deletion of Junior Wantok Cup

ice hockey at the 2018 winter olympics
curious where the number of competitors per team is coming from. The men's seems logical since it matches past olympics and recent world championships, however the women's championships and olympics have differed in the past; worlds 23, past two olympics 21.18abruce (talk) 23:31, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

- short track looks good, I had USA with 3 and Russia with 2 in the 1500 though, don't know for sure.18abruce (talk) 19:20, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- I think it is better to leave Singapore until the ISU publishes something or there is a news release seeing as she barely got in. Probably okay either way. As for the 1500 I don't understand, why wouldn't the USA get 3 qualifiers with at least 3 in the top 30?18abruce (talk) 19:33, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- The allocation works like this: First place in each event gets a slot, then second place in each event. If we follow that the USA will have 3 athletes before it gets to Gehring. Therefore she is skipped over as the USA would have had the maximum amount of athletes at that point. One of the other 3 are not ranked high enough to get a spot either. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 19:36, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- I don't know. I prefer to take your word for it and wait for the official results in this sport, I badly embarrassed myself in the Sochi qualification and don't care to repeat that. They should publish the results very soon.18abruce (talk) 16:27, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

- On a different note, the CBC has corrected their story about the Nigerian bobsled, and the Guardian UK has published a very good, correct story about them. Good to direct editors there hopefully.18abruce (talk) 16:32, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
Shorttrack Olympic Qualification
For the Olympic Qualification Shorttrack you can't just take the WC Classifications (WCC) and take the first 32/36 countries. Olympic Qualification is based on the Special Olympic Qualifying Classification (SOQC) the difference with the WCC is that SOQC only takes countries into consideration instead of individual skaters. For the first Quota place you take the best result of that country in all 4 WC competitions, for the 2nd Quota place you take the second best result and for the third Quota place you take the worst result in every WC competition. It means that the results of a Quota place can be obtained by different skaters depending on which skater has the countries best result, 2nd best result or worst result. For example: the Netherlands has in both men and women only 2 Quota places in the 1500m, because at every WC competition at least one of the skaters didn't score any points. Because at every competition it was a different skater it didn't have any consequences for the WCC, but for the SOQC you take all those bad results together resulting in missing the 3rd Quota place. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.89.173.61 (talk) 19:44, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- "All NOCs/NFs having skaters ranked first over the distances of 500, 1000 and 1500 meters get one starting place in the respective distance. Following that the NOCs/NFs having skaters ranked 2nd get one starting place, etc,". This is what I have done. There is no where it says countries are taken into account [3]. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 20:36, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- That's after the SOQC has been calculated, and tells how the 60 starting places are awarded to the NOC's based on the SOQC. First the SOQC has to be calculated according to ISU Special Regulations Shorttrack Speed Skating rule 284: "Quota places are earned by the ISU Members (by IOC called “NFs”) respectively National Olympic Committees (NOCs) based on the results achieved by the ISU Members in the four (4) Special Olympic Qualification Classifications (SOQC) resulting from the four (4) ISU World Cup Competitions designated by the ISU to be held during October – December prior to the Olympic Winter Games." SOQC is solely based on the results of the ISU Members and not the invidual skaters. Several countries skated during those 4 competitions with 4 different skaters on a distance, that would be very unwise if the SOQC would be the same as the WCC. A 4th skater in the WCC would be useless considering a maximum of 3 starting places per distance. The way I described is used during all the previous Olympic Games ans I know it will be used again for these Games.130.89.173.61 (talk) 22:14, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- Can you please link me to the document? I am not doubting you, but this "SOQC is solely based on the results of the ISU Members and not the invidual skaters." line is no where to be found?? I agree with you that the rules are not very clear for this procedures, the only thing it says that quota places can be earned by ISU Members with the results of ISU Members. For the calculation of the WCC , "Skater/Teams" are mentioned in the regulations. Thats the difference between SOQC and WCC. If there wouldn't be a difference there's no need for a SOQC, because you can use the WCC. I can only tell you as an insider how they calculate and allocate the starting places. I expect the final allocation to be published somewhere this week (in 2013 it took 5 days), you can find it at http://isu.org/communications. 130.89.173.61 (talk) 22:53, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Azerbaijan and Caymans
What is your source that the Azerbaijani and Cayman skiers have retired? The FIS shows Patrick Brachner ([4]) and Dean Travers ([5] as qualifying, and doesn't show either of them as retired, nor could I find any source saying they were. Where are you getting this information? Smartyllama (talk) 01:17, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- I sent an email to the Azeri Ski federation after this article came out [6] and they confirmed Patrick as being retired. Dean lists "former skier' on his Linkedin [7], which implies he is retired. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 01:40, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

3HL TOUR
Just wondering why you took down the 3HL TOUR post?
The 3HL TOUR is a new 3 on 3 Professional Hockey League in Canada with 12 teams across Southern Ontario...The 3HL TOUR consists of a series of 8 team single elimination tournaments similar in structure to the PGA TOUR with the top 8 teams competing for the 3HL Champions Cup at the end of the season.
Our goal is to provide Elite Canadian Hockey Players an Opportunity to Play Professional Hockey in Canada and to choose the 3HL TOUR over other professional hockey leagues including the ECHL / AHL and European Pro Leagues, along with providing a transition for many NHLers, as it provides financial incentives, a reduced physical grind, along with the allure of being close to home allowing them the option to pursue other aspects of their lives while continuing to play professional hockey.
Average Attendance: 800-1000/event --- and growing

About my edit
Dear Sportfan1234,
I noted that you have revert my edits on The Amazing Race 15, however I do need you to take some time to explain why i performed the revert but you opposed it:
- First, I noticed on each and every one of the TAR articles and I noted that the “The Final <task> of the race” was only used in the final leg and it is not written in the penultimate leg. This is true for all other TAR articles as I saw, hence this is why I performed a revert in BradfordNewton’s edit; but because you performed the revert, you have also reverted back his edit as well, hence the reason on why I did do so.
- Second, among the revert that I did, I made a few typography mistakes on the same article such as punctuation and bracketing, and that is why i noted the error and I did some minor edits. But because you also revert the said updates, the revert has also revert back to show the mistakes too. I came here was to try to make the articles look more consistent and improve it at the same time.
I believe that revert was a mistake, but what I also did is to improve the articles as well. I hope you understand. (203.78.15.149 (talk) 09:21, 11 December 2017 (UTC))
Chinese Taipei
Where is your source that they will compete? I couldn't find them on any of the lists. Smartyllama (talk) 13:53, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
- They had provisional quotas in speed skating, after the third world cup. At least one of those quota spots is safe as their female speed skater improved her standings in the World Cup (ie she cannot be passed, and thus she is officially qualified). December 2017
Hi. I tried to explain it to your friend but he hasn't responded yet. Look, here's a source: [8]. It says that
The Russian Team is disqualified from the Women’s Ice Hockey Event and the International Ice Hockey Federation is requested to modify the results of the event accordingly.
This means that Russian team is already disqualified (no longer placed 6th) and the IIHF will have to modify the results. It seems that we differently understand terms 'disqualified' and 'voided'. For me they're pretty similar. If any team gets disqualified this means that its results are no longer valid. Is it wrong? Modifications (that were requested by the IOC) are more about promoting teams that were placed lower. (copied it from my talk page, you can check my conversation with your friend there). I hope to see some kind of response. Do not revert any edits without an explanation. Thank you. Cskamoscow100 (talk) 18:32, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
I am not entirely sure if GBR gets additional allocations in doubles and women's because they are ranked higher in the relay, or if the priority should go to Ukraine because they only need the additional allocation in one discipline (doubles). Also, I am very unsure of where the final one (or two) allocations should go, I believe it should be to Slovenia in the men's. Take a look if you have time, maybe being less definite about the add-ons until FIL-luge publishes something might be better anyway.18abruce (talk) 17:36, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
- I tried taking a look yesterday and its a complete mess. I think its best we wait till the FIL releases something. Also the TPE athlete is tied in points with a few athletes, so do we know what the tiebreaker is? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 17:54, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, there are 5 athletes tied for the last 4 spots, none have a World Cup result so it is their best Nations Cup result. Still a 3-way tie for 2 spots, but the example they give in the results shows that the second best results are then compared, or several results compared together. Even with some ambiguity, Birus of Slovenia is clearly the worst performer of the tied athletes.18abruce (talk) 18:01, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Hong Kong Names

So all of these are wrong and you're right?
You're statement about Hong Kong names is wrong. They are not subject to traditional Chinese naming as they are not traditional Chinese names. And as for Pan-To Barton Lui, Lui is still behind Barton.
From Hong Kong name - (English personal name + Cantonese family name + Cantonese personal name format).

Fix the sentences
I'm use dad English, sorry, please fix these sentences.
On 6 December, Putin stated that the Russian government will not prevent any athletes from participating at the Games as individuals, but there were calls for boycott from other politicians, skip to Winter Olympics.[1][2][3][4] But it is still unclear whether Russia will fund its athletes in the run-up to the Olympics, and some athletes (including Evgenia Medvedeva) opposed to Russian compete for neutral. Russia intends to appeal the ban.[5]

Dual listing of Japan in both the qualified list and the waiting list in figure skating
I noticed that my edit on this section of Figure skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Qualification is reverted, but could not comprehend the reasoning. My understanding is that this table is basically a waiting list, implying qualified/moved-up countries no longer belong here.
There are several examples already. In the Pairs disciplines, France gave up their ticket, so Czech Republic received their ticket as the next eligible NOC. In the Ice Dance discipline, Denmark gave up their ticket and Slovakia received one ticket, in a similar way. Both Czech Republic and Slovakia are not included in the "Next eligible NOC per event" table.
When North Korea forfeited their pairs ticket, Japan moved up and included in the "Qualification Summary" table. I guess Japan does not belong to the "Next eligible NOC per event" table any more. Otherwise, both Czech Republic and Slovakia should be also included in the "Next eligible NOC per event" table for the consistency of logic.
Seameetsmountain (talk) 06:09, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
- The list shows reserves after qualification is done. The nations are bolded if they receive a quota, see examples of all sports from 2014. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 14:22, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
- I see. So the logic is highlighting the NOC in the "Next eligible NOC per event" table. Still I'm curious. If you do not mind, could you point out where I could see the examples? I read the articles Figure skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Qualification and Figure skating at the 2010 Winter Olympics – Qualification, but both articles did not have the "Next eligible NOC per event" table. These two are the only ones I could find on the qualification system for figure skating. I guess the examples might be from other disciplines. Seameetsmountain (talk) 07:34, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

I've removed the AFD tag from this article, as you did not specify why the article should be deleted. Please feel free to complete the steps at WP:AFDHOWTO, or post a request at WT:AFD and someone will finish the required steps for the nomination. I see that you nominated multiple articles using tools, so it's possible that the script ate your nomination. Feel free to re-nominate, per the above. Thanks. Collision at YYZ
I probably should have expressed why this article is not significant better - mostly it is because 9 advises that incidents should only be entered if
"Accidents or incidents at the airport should only be included in airport articles if:
- The accident caused human fatalities.
- The accident involved hull loss or serious damage to the aircraft or airport.
- The accident or incident invoked a change in procedures, regulations or process that had a wide effect on other airports or airlines or the aircraft industry"
there is also a big dose of WP:NOTNEWS in there as well. So such an incident as you have entered does not warrent inclusion in Wikipedia Andrewgprout (talk) 20:29, 6 January 2018 (UTC)
Rollback granted
Hi Sportsfan 1234. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Mz7 (talk) 07:29, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
Skeleton for Israel
Israel is in line to receive a re-allocation sled, to be confirmed January 17, 2018. Please stop deleting this possible entrant for Israel's Olympic team. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SlidingSportsJunkie (talk • contribs) 03:11, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
- SlidingSportsJunkie, then once it's confirmed it can be added in. Primefac (talk) 03:13, 15 January 2018 (UTC) (talk page stalker)
