Merger
Yes, please merge "Charles Woolley" with "Leonard Woolley". For what it's worth, I've never heard of Woolley referred to as "Charles Woolley."--Iacobus 02:48, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

For shame
This entry is a shame for Wikipedia and those editors who edits articles about Ur, Carchemish, or Alalakh. Please expand. --Ghirla -трёп- 23:31, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Your contribution to the article, save for the whiny bit above, is notably absent. Put up or shut up. Chris 18:01, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Wartime Intelligence Activities
We do not need a tabloid quality annecdote in WikipediaChmyr (talk) 18:21, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
This article is in need of expansion regarding Wooley's NON-archaeological career. He worked closely with T. E. Lawrence & Aaron Aaronsohn in Palestine & Syria in the run-up to the War, and acted as an agent after hostilities commenced for British Military Intelligence. He was captured by the Turks in (I think) 1915 and imprisoned at Kastamouni. I suspect his knighthood in 1935 may have been as much for his wartime services as for his archaeological discoveries.
Beyond that limited information (taken from a book I'm presently editing about Aaronsohn), I would have to do considerable research, for which I don't have the time right now. I'll put Wooley on my to-do list -- but I invite anyone else with the relevant knowledge to fill in the gaps here. --Michael K. Smith 15:09, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
The information about Woolley being captured at this date is correct. HappyWanderer (talk) 12:48, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Hopefully, further convincing references regarding the alleged 'covert service' will be highly appreciated.76.103.78.42 (talk) 19:02, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
