Emmanuel Olunkwa (b. 1994, Los Angeles, CA) is a visual artist, writer, editor, and filmmaker.[1][2][3] Olunkwa currently serves as the editor-at-large for Pioneer Works and editor of Pin-Up Magazine.[4] In 2020, Olunkwa co-founded November Magazine.[5] Olunkwa's work has been published in Artforum, Interview, Architectural Digest, Museum of Modern Art, and the New Museum. He is based in New York.

Early life and Education

Olunkwa graduated with a BA from the Eugene Lang College at the New School and an MS from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture.[6][7][8]

Work

Olunkwa has written features on artists Kara Walker, David Wojnarowicz, and Deanna Lawson, architects Elizabeth Diller and Mark Wigley, and authors Natasha Stagg and Andrea Long Chu, amongst others.[9] His photography has been included in Dazed, Garage, Cultured, and e-flux.[10][11]

In 2020, Olunkwa started E&Ko., a functional furniture line of birch plywood chairs and tables.[12][13] The design works have been shown with artists Walter Price, Michael Krebber, Paul Chan, Wade Guyton, and Rachel Harrison.[14]
