Third party tracking cite which records all the awards and provides a link/ source to them, in addition to the media outlets reporting on a forum tracking the awards. This is similar to how the Witcher 3's page as well as The Last of Us 2's page is sourced which both used media outlets reporting on the record as well as a third part tracking cite as a source that provided all the links to the awards. For example on TLOU2's page
https://www.vg247.com/last-us-part-2-witcher-3-awards
https://www.gameawards.net/2020/09/2020.html
This article which used a tracker as a source was enough to add the title of "most awarded GOTY game" to TLOU2, similarly above are articles and a tracker. Halciyon (talk) 00:01, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Any updates on this? Multiple sources have already been posted and the game has a staggering 30% more GOTY awards than the previous record-holder.
It's even in the wiki of the previous record holder (TLOU2) that Elden Ring holds the record, should be mentioned in the award section with links to sources above.

Most Awarded Game of the Year game

Here is a source for the claim that it has received this title. This happened to day and more stories are likely to follow, but this is seemingly a reliable source which backs their reporting up with a link to the research done to calculate this. The research is based on ResetEra, a user forum, which is not going to fly for us. Masem (t) 03:34, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
All three sources (107, 108, 109) on The Last of Us Part II's page point to articles that reference https://www.gameawards.net/, a site with unclear ownership that hasn't updated for 2022. It seems questionable whether this site is an authoritative source to me, but it's regardless a seemingly outdated one, and thus relying on it for this statistic could be a growing problem as time goes on.
It's not set in stone, though, so I don't think switching immediately is a good idea (some more articles have been posted, such as by Forbes, but they all use the ResetEra research as far as I can tell. Hopefully someone else looks into this). Yasuda Sayo (talk) 01:27, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Elden Ring sales for Europe 2022 is wrong

The Wiki mentions that Elden Ring was the 10th best selling game for Europe when the source links to the United Kingdom, it was the 10th best selling PHSYICAL game in the UK.

It was the 3rd best selling game in Europe for Digital + Phsyical

Higher quality image

The image showcasing the player fighting a dragon is very low quality. I checked the source from which it is taken from, and the original image is 1080p. Someone may be able to replace the image with the higher quality version; I am not sure how to, since I'm new to Wikipedia editing. thanks Jeeves00 (talk) 23:24, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeeves00 the image is of reduced quality in order to meet the non-free content criteria. According to criterion 3b on the list, the image has to be of low quality because it is from copyrighted media and we need to respect the commercial opportunities of said media by using as little of it as possible. Since having a low quality image likely won't hurt the commercial viability of this media, it was included instead of a high-quality image which might hurt it. The Night Watch (talk) 00:25, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Record GOTY (Game Of The Year) awards mention

Could be put right below the Award section above the list of award ceremonies

Elden Ring currently holds the record for most "Game Of The Year" awards given by outlets, as reported by Forbes and other sources

Any updates on this? This years Game Awards seasons have started and there's a lot of talk about this not being on the wiki yet 178.84.210.208 (talk) 19:12, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar/clarity correction

Under the section Gameplay, a sentence ends with "...swap ashes of war, or walk to using fast travel."

This is unclear. Perhaps it means "swap ashes of war, or walk to another site of grace by using fast travel."

More clear would be "ashes of war, or fast travel to a site of grace that has been discovered." 2603:301D:1E0C:8000:C051:30CE:D405:A7D1 (talk) 16:26, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ending descriptions + Shadows of the Erdtree

While this shouldnt become voluminous, recommend expanding the plot to at least touch on all six endings, ala a bulleted list, as the endings are so wildly different that its warrants at least a few words for each.

Also, hows there no mention of the DLC anywhere as of yet? Brinlong (talk) 19:53, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No content has been teased, so it has been delegated to a brief mention in development thus far The Night Watch (talk) 22:45, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit on Marika's alter-ego and Ranni's ending

Radagon does not possess Marika's body, they are two personalities in a single body, there's a hidden statue that literally carries the message "Radagon is Marika." Maybe alter-ego is not the most appropriate word on this as they might act in conflict with each other (Marika shatters the Elden Ring and Radagon tries fixing it) but "possess" is even more wrong.

As for the Ranni's ending change, her dialogue makes it clear:

私の律は、黄金ではない。星と月、冷たい夜の律だ
“My order will not be of gold, but of the stars and moon, and chill night.”
…私はそれを、この地から遠ざけたいのだ
“…I want to keep it far away from this land.”
生命と魂が、律と共にあるとしても、それは遥かに遠くにあればよい
“…Even if life and souls are one with the order, it (the order) could be kept far away.”
確かに見ることも、感じることも、信じることも、触れることも …すべて、できない方がよい
“If it was not possible to clearly see, feel, believe in, or touch the order… That would be better.”

and

To every living being, and every living soul.
Now cometh the age of the stars. A thousand year voyage under the wisdom of the Moon

This point of contention was actually first introduced by myself in 2022, with a discussion in Archive 1. We ought to keep it in the simplest terms beyond interpretation: that they cohabitate a body. We don't know if Ragadon is an alternative personality, we don't know if he's possessing her; we just know they share a body. BOTTO (TC) 03:09, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Shadow of the Erdtree

I recommend adding a section for the DLC that will becoming out in a few months. There is now an official trailer, images, characters and additional information that could be mentioned in the mean time. Phlogistonatorspam (talk) 17:37, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Adding DLC information, 6 endings, adding the main bosses with their lores, and speed runs

Was wondering if this was fine to add since information about the dlc has come out and from the looks of the six endings there isn't much information jot down. I recommend adding the main bosses lore since it is so pivotal to the storyline and including descriptions of speed run tactics on the game. ~~~~ IAintReadingALLThat (talk) 23:44, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. See some of the comments below for some guidance on this. Sergecross73 msg me 01:39, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

3 Additional Endings Not Mentioned

I was planning on making some edits to include information about the three other endings not mentioned in the current synopsis of the plot: - Blessing of Despair Ending: Mending Rune of the Fell Curse (Dung Eater) - Age of Order: Mending Rune of Perfect Order (Goldmask) - Age of the Duskborn: Mending Rune of the Death-Prince (Fia)

I believe such an edit makes sense to make. Bellbearinghunter (talk) 01:38, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, but please see WP:VG/PLOTfor guidance. If added, it should be rather brief within the word limits given there. Sergecross73 msg me 01:38, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Improving Clarity Regarding the Collection of Great Runes

I think making some edits to improve clarity regarding Great Rune collection would make improvements. Currently, the synopsis states: "The Hold's benefactor, the Two Fingers, instructs the Tarnished to collect the Great Runes and bring them to the Erdtree, where they can be used to repair the Elden Ring.".

This current analysis is fairly misleading as it implies that all Great Runes must be collected by the player to repair the Elden Ring. This is not the case as the player needs only 3 Great Runes to complete the game. Those being Morgott's Great Rune, and any two preceding Great Runes to get there. Beyond that, the player may complete the game without the collection of another great rune. Bellbearinghunter (talk) 02:39, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

While we should definitely correct any inaccuracies in the article, we have to keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a Game Guide. We explain the general premise of a game, but we don't give advice on how to play the game. Sergecross73 msg me 01:32, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Add Notable Elden Ring Speed Runs and Glitches

Almost every game has a speed run dedicated to it, so creating a section describing the current tactics, players, and times for Elden Ring speed runs would be relevant to the game and category. Many glitches are related to Elden Ring speed runs, which are also relevant to every game. Thus, adding a section related to notable glitches within the Elden Ring would also be feasible. RoyBokChoy (talk) 13:18, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. While not impossible to include, long story short, this will likely be difficult to add. On Wikipedia, we can only add what is verified by reliable sources. That's generally websites that are professional publications - think IGN or Eurogamer. If you catch websites like that covering it - lots of examples of viable websites at WP:VG/S - it could be argued that a mention is due. But the problem is that much of this sort of stuff is relegated to YouTubers and social media users. And if they're the only ones talking about it, then it's usually deemed not important enough to be included on Wikipedia. They're considered WP:USERG-content, which isn't allowed to be used as a source on Wikipedia. Sergecross73 msg me 01:13, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just an FYI to you, as well as the other new editors posing questions above: the Elden Ring article is a "good article" (notice the at the top), which means it has been peer reviewed to ensure it meets certain quality standards. I'm not saying it can't be improved, but typically the improvement opportunities in articles like these are more nuanced. For new editors like yourselves, unfamiliar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, making improvements may be a struggle. You may get more enjoyment from editing articles that are in poorer quality. TarkusABtalk/contrib 05:07, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
