:::Regardless of the ANI, the more I look at these articles, the more solid they seem. Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Netherzone is obviously very invested in deleting any and all material connected with Carmel, but it doesn't make sense to delete major arts organizations that are independently notable. I will be working on improving the sourcing in these articles. -- [[User:Ssilvers|Ssilvers]] ([[User talk:Ssilvers|talk]]) 07:38, 2 November 2024 (UTC) |

Help with vandal
Hi GentlemanGhost,
I frequent a few pages, update, do that sort of thing for music profiles, from MIA to U2 and a few producers. Noticed that the Griffin Guess user page is constantly vandalized by the same non contributor user IP address. Its obvious its someone who is constantly vandalizing the account to maliciously target Mr. Guess and any functioning facts of his bio. Since I'm not as savvy as you to file a formal complaint to block this person(s). Please let me know if you by chance would kindly find the time to do so. I've reset the page officially today -- many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kelseykukui (talk • contribs) 19:53, 16 May 2018 (UTC)
- I don't know, your sockpuppetry seems pretty savvy to me. The best recommendation that I can make is to try to achieve some consensus on the article's talk page, rather than reverting edits ad nauseum. As a last resort, you can try dispute resolution. I'd follow some of the helpful links people have left on your talk page, particularly about reliable sources. --GentlemanGhost (converse) 18:52, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

Russian locality orphans
Hey just a heads up, if you see a huge pile of orphans from any one particular Russian federal subject (Altai Krai or Bashkortostan are frequent flyers), don't worry about them - I have a script that sorts the category by district and outputs it as a formatted list to be pasted right into the article. It's less of a problem when you're just adding a couple, but when you get huge categories like Bashkortostan, trying to add them by hand is kind of a waste of time. I'm going through bit by bit and updating them when I can; I know I'm a little behind right now but I am going to get them done this week. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 00:16, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

The article The Master of the Iron Hand has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:GNG.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. TTN (talk) 13:47, 28 December 2019 (UTC)

New Updates & Messages For Active Participants in the Marvel Comics work group
- Current message (25/1/2020)
Greetings to you all & a great weekend. I took the iniative to send this mass message to you all because I observed from the article on Elders of the Universe that certain key members of the Elders of the Universe have no article of theirs and most glaring is that of Gilpertpedon/The Runner. I believe subject has become notable enough for a stand alone article & it would be a great idea for someone in possession of a picture of the runner which is their own work (as to avoid image copyright violations) to begin the article. Then the rest of us contribute to the article’s development.Celestina007 (talk) 14:38, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Pending Action Requiring Urgent Attention
Greetings to you all & a great weekend to you all. I want to use this medium to remind us that certain imperative actions such as the under listed actions still need to be attended to
- Review Category:Marvel Comics character stubs and merge to List of Marvel Comics characters as appropriate.
- Review the image at Category:Comics images lacking original published source/Marvel to provide original publication source information (title, issue, cover date, artist(s))..
- Collect categories, resource links, and templates.
And most imperative;
- Recruit interested editors who have shown interest in our Marvel community.

Feedback Request
Hi there! I have recently made a request for an assessment of the article Puppetry of the Penis on WikiProject Theatre. I have been editing this article for over a month, adding almost 3000 words, new sections, an infobox, media and more references for verifiability. I noticed you were a very active (and helpful) editor of WikiProject Theatre, and was wondering if you had the time if you could have a look at the article and provide me any feedback. Any general feedback would be much appreciated and possibly an assessment of the article for importance and quality. Thank you very much. Rubyredgirl (talk) 10:16, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Rubyredgirl: Hi! The improvements to the article look pretty solid! I've bumped it up to a C rating on the talk page. It probably could get a B rating, but it needs to be more thoroughly checked versus the criteria—one of the WikiProject banners probably has a list of what that is, otherwise I'll look it up. I just did a cursory look at the article but I was happy to see so many refs and not merely to promotional pieces. Aesthetically, I would put the list of penis tricks into prose rather than a list; the white space just feels a bit too dominant and although the names are descriptive, they don't give us that much information. There's nothing wrong with listing them all–Wikipedia is not paper, after all–but I think a prose pargraph is the way to go here. Another bit of Wikipedia ethos: although "Controversy" sections are common, they're frowned upon. Too often, they are a dumping ground for poorly-sourced complaints about the article subject. Obviously, this group is controversial and I feel like the coverage of this has good sources for that and isn't excessive. Still, I think you could integrate it with the "Reception" section. Maybe even keep "Controversy" as a sub-heading, but it's better if the article is about all reactions to their work, whether they be good, bad, or indifferent. For the Theatre work group, the article was already rated as low importance and I kept that intact. Some subjectivity comes into play here, but it's not an assessment of the overall importance of a topic but rather how much attention needs to be paid to it by the various projects. If it was in the Top 1000 most popular Theatre articles, I'd raise the importance level. Most articles are not, and therefore are of lesser importance to the project. But hey, it's an interesting topic, so I'm sure it should get a decent amount of attention anyway, regardless of how "important" it is to any given WikiProject. Sorry if this a shallow evaluation, but I wanted to respond right away. Very nice work! --GentlemanGhost (séance) 11:49, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
- This is the checklist which I (or anyone else) would use to decide to bump the rating up to a B. --GentlemanGhost (séance) 11:56, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
- @GentlemanGhost: Hello GentlemanGhost! I really appreciate you taking the time to look over the article and assess it, as a new Wikipedia editor I am very grateful for your expertise. The article has since been bumped to a B rating by other editors and I have done some revision based on other editors' feedback, but let me know if you still feel it needs improvement to meet this qualification. Completely agree with your point about the list of "tricks", it was there when I began editing the article and I was not sure the protocol for removing it. This has been discussed on the talk page and ultimately I decided to remove it as I had added other mentions of some of the tricks in the "Summary" section that were properly referenced and so the list was a bit irrelevant (and definitely did not go with the aesthetics of the article). As for your feedback on the "Controversy" sections, I did not know that they were frowned upon, thank you for bringing this to my attention! I think the subsections on the legal disputes and productions bans are still pertinent to the article as they don't provide subjective opinions, rather they are a factual account of the certain difficulties the show has faced because of its subject matter. Perhaps the section should be renamed? But it is still different to "Reception" which is about critical reactions of the show itself by journalists and critics (good and bad). Let me know your thoughts on this. I also agree with your rating of its importance, it is definitely not one of the more searched articles that fall into the Theatre category, and is a lesser well known show. Anyway, thank you so much for your time in responding and providing your feedback, this is extremely helpful and I appreciate your support as an editor. Rubyredgirl (talk) 03:08, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Rubyredgirl: Hello again! I'm glad some other editors took the time to check the B-rating checklist. I had a feeling it met all the critereia. Thanks for responding to the feedback. As far as the controversy section, I can't point to a specific policy right offhand, I just know that such sections are a frequent lightning rod for discussion. I think it's fine to leave it as is until such a time as there is a consensus to change it. Happy editing! --GentlemanGhost (séance) 13:46, 12 June 2021 (UTC)

- @Volcom95 - Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been on much recently. I made a few small changes which I hope you like. Since it's already being reviewed, I will let that play out, but it seems to me that it will be approved. Cheets! GentlemanGhost (séance) 19:28, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

Duplicate WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography banners
Hi, I noticed you have been removing "duplicate" WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography banners. Unfortunately, they are not. There is a bot currently processing the banners that say "WikiProject Organized Crime" and "WikiProject Crime", etc, and turning them into "WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography" banners with task force attributes that say "|organizedcrime=yes|organizedcrime-imp=Low" etc. At this stage, if you remove a banner then the project will lose assessment information. Rather than removing "duplicate" banners, please merge them if you think you can do so, or just leave them alone and the project team will eventually get around to merging them. Thanks in advance. - Ah, I wondered where all the new ones came from. By all means, finish your work. I'll leave those alone. --GentlemanGhost (séance) 06:30, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

Theatre of the Golden Bough and the Golden Bough Playhouse redirects
Hello GentlemanGhost, hope all is going very well in your world. I saw that you recently undid the redirects of both Theater of the Golden Bough and also Golden Bough Playhouse stating that they were redirected without discussion. That is not really the case, there is a years-long backstory to many of these Carmel, California and Monterey Peninsula articles involving several ANI reports, the creator being site blocked with no talk page or email access due to UPE, COI, off-wiki canvassing, poor sourcing, copyvio, and original research. See:Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1163#Topic Ban or Site Block, Greghenderson2006 for the latest ANI. There is now a task force for the clean up as part of the California WikiProject. Additionally Theatre of the Golden Bough and the Golden Bough Playhouse are the same operation, the encyclopedia does not need two articles. This sort of micro-splitting or duplication of content are part of what some have called the "Carmel walled garden". I really think it's best that both are redirected to the founder/builder, Edward G. Kuster where the material is already duplicated. Would you consider self-reverting? Netherzone (talk) 13:22, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello again, and sorry to bother you, but FYI, if you undid the redirects in response to messages by an IP on the talk page of the Kuster article, those messages were block evasion by the editor's LOUT sock, similar to attempting to edit by proxy. They had done the same by email which is why they lost their email privileges. See: User talk:Greghenderson2006#Block evasion. -- Netherzone (talk) 19:57, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, thank you for the clarification. I was unaware of the ANI situation. I have crossed paths with said user as we seem to be interested in the same geographical area, but hadn't looked deeply into his edit history. Personally, I feel that the redirect makes the Kuster article too bloated, but I understand the urge to whittle down to the essentials. The edits have already been reverted, along with baseless accusations against me in the edit summary. Oy gevalt! Thanks for actually taking the time to have a dialogue. At least somebody around here still assumes good faith. --GentlemanGhost (séance) 02:50, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- Regardless of the ANI, the more I look at these articles, the more solid they seem. Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater. Netherzone is obviously very invested in deleting any and all material connected with Carmel, but it doesn't make sense to delete major arts organizations that are independently notable. I will be working on improving the sourcing in these articles. -- Ssilvers (talk) 07:38, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
