Lucky Cigarette

The idea of a lucky cigarette is a universal one. There are different interpretations of the practice but the idea is that before any cigarettes are smoked from a freshly opened pack, one is flipped and becomes the lucky. Choosing which cigarette is to be flipped is relative but it is usually the middle cigarette of the front row.[1]

Rules of the Lucky

1. The lucky must be the first cigarette pulled from the pack and it must be done immediately after opening the pack.
2. The lucky cannot be "bummed" or given to anyone but the owner of the pack of cigarettes. (Stealing a person's lucky cigarette is considered to be very bad luck for the thief.[2])
3. There are only two ways the lucky can be smoked:[3]

    a. If it is accidentally picked from the pack.
b. If it is the last cigarette to be smoked.
