Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for protection
Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Requesting temporary semi-protection due to repeated Vandalism as article apparently currently featured.
temporary semi-protection Vandalism, This article has been hit over and over again today and the days before. Protection will be helpful. . Marlith (Talk) 20:38, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
full protection Vandalism, This page has been severely targeted by a user using several sock puppets. Might be best to protect it for a while..Master of Pies (talk) 19:36, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. GbT/c 19:43, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Requesting temporary semi-protection. Several instances of vandalism to this page today. These are mainly anonymous users wishing to add personal points of view regarding this individual's earnings, or incorrect information about her height. This has actually been going on for several weeks and I have reverted many of the edits, but it appears to be becoming more intense. TheRetroGuy (talk) 18:56, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 19:13, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
temp semi protect we need some kind of downtime to get this edited correctly without a bunch of vandalism saying she died of a crack overdose... just till the end of the night. Lots of edit conflicts and warring over whether she's dead or not (she is) (apparently not dead again... thanks MSNBC). Thanks. Qb | your 2 cents 18:38, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for one week and 15 hours. —kurykh 18:42, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
semi-protect per the admin's suggestion at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Jordanjames. A recent flury of IP vandalism and User:Jordanjames. 67.71.29.22 (talk) 18:21, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
semi-protect was locked until yesterday, IPs have immediately jumped back on the page, mainly adding unsourced times to matches. I think an addition fortnight might be enough and they will have moved on to Unforgiven (2008). Darrenhusted (talk) 15:25, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for one fortnight. Tan ǀ 39 16:19, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
semi-protect - Because of the crash, there are a large number of IP's and the occasional new user fighting over what's happening. Needs to be locked down for a little while to prevent info overload. Utan Vax (talk) 15:03, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, please, move/redirect protect Spanair Flight AJK 5022 and Spanair Flight 22. The former was started an hour before the latter, but a new user redirected the former to Spanair Flight 22 and copied it wholesale instead of moving it. Thanks. --Rajah (talk) 15:27, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Declined Spanair will sort itself out and there's no vandalism. As for the others, they're a mess, and I suggest waiting until everyone has calmed down before cementing pages in place. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 16:49, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Semi-protection until September 9, 2008 - Heavy IP vandalism with unsourced material being added, vandalism only likely to increase with event just over two weeks away. D.M.N. (talk) 14:26, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
The image is no longer in use on the front page of Wikipedia (which is the reason why it was protected in the first place), and I wish to undertake the transfer nomination of the image over to Wikicommons. However, the lock is preventing me from doing it. --293.xx.xxx.xx (talk) 10:01, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Declined It appears that it is going to be on the main page in an upcoming DYK, and it was just protected hours ago. - Rjd0060 (talk) 14:19, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Request Second Opinion On Talk:Avro_533_Manchester, the DYK tag says the article's DYK already appeared on the front page August 19th. It's now August 20th. To further validate the time discrepancy, my inquiry of the copyright status of the picture's watermarks from the Main Page Talk Page DYK Errors section with the time stamp of 08:08, 19 August 2008. The timestamp from the 4 ~ at the end of this posting will indicate that the lock is now overdue to be removed.--293.xx.xxx.xx (talk) 20:36, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Recreation of the Mike Rosen article is disabled and I think that Wikipedia should definately have an article on Rosen.
Mike Rosen is the longtime radio talk show host of The Mike Rosen Show on 850 KOA [1] in Denver, Colorado, a columnist for the Rocky Mountain News [2] and an occasional fill-in host on The Rush Limbaugh Show. His significance is further seen by the fact that both the Governor of Colorado and the Mayor of Denver come on the show on a monthly basis. Rosen has been listed by Talkers Magazine as the 82nd most important radio talk show host in America in 2008. [3]
There is currently a short section on Mike Rosen on the 850 KOA page, but Wikipedia should have a proper article about Rosen. Sarnalios (talk) 09:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
List of National Basketball Association top individual scoring season averages (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
There is a necessary edit to make on this page, which provides misinformation on NBA history. In fact, the page appears to have been protected in the first place due to an edit war involving the change that needs to be made. However, there was no type of discussion - by either party involved - on the talk page made during that edit war, which perhaps explains why the page was protected in the first place.
- Declined What specifically do you want the administrators to add? -Jéské (v^_^v Bodging WP edit by edit) 04:40, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
I think that you misunderstand. There is not a need for an addition, but rather a piece of content should be removed from the page because it does not actually belong there. A particular player's season is listed there when it is not acknowledged by the NBA in its record books. For some more detail, I have commented on this on the talk page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.31.252.152 (talk) 05:02, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Deferring to another administrator here as this involves editing a section previously the focus of an edit-war. I'm unwilling to make the change, but it does sound reasonable. -Jéské (v^_^v Bodging WP edit by edit) 18:19, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
So what happens now? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.31.252.152 (talk) 07:13, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- You'll have to wait for another administrator. Another suggestion I could make is to use {{editprotected}} on the talk page and be specific about the edit you want to make; RFPP is rather sleepy at times. -Jéské (v^_^v Bodging WP edit by edit) 20:56, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Done. Looked right to me; I imagine if other editors have conflicting information/sources, they'll sound off. Tan ǀ 39 04:15, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

semi-protect. Allmusic cites "Emo" and "Post-hardcore" for the band's genres very clearly on both their page and all their albums. Many IP users have been over the past few weeks taking it upon themselves to change it simply because they don't like it, changing them to "progressive metal", "post-grunge", "alternative metal", etc, yet never (with one exception, for some minor discussion) supplying any discussion or source, sometimes even leaving the allmusic citation with their altered genres. The band page and their album pages need protecting against this, thanks. Prophaniti (talk) 10:36, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. And even if this was happening more than once or twice a day, full protection would be appropriate and not semi-protection, because this activity is in the nature of an edit war. Stifle (talk) 13:43, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Semi-protection, IP vandalism - D.M.N. (talk) 08:11, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked. The vandalism seems to be coming from just two IPs, so I've blocked them both. Stifle (talk) 09:30, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Semi-protection, moderately heavy IP vandalism over the last few weeks/months, pretty controversial subject. It died down for about two days and its started up again. I don't know how long it should be SP'ed for, as the vandalism comes from unrelated and usually new editors. Thanks, --MattWT 08:28, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 3 1/2 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Currently, the article for Ronald Jenkees has been deleted and protected from being re-added. I'm not sure what the arguments where against it existing, perhaps he was too new at the time and hadn't gained his current fame. But he seems to be well known now. His tunes are now available on iTunes, Amazon, and Rhapsody. He has also been linked to from ESPN and was interviewed by a few people. One of the guys in the wikipedia IRC channel even said that he liked his music when I mentioned that I wanted to unprotect his article. So I think he is significant enough to have an article. Thanks. -- Suso (talk) 18:33, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Not unprotected - WP:ILIKEIT is not a reason to have an article. Google News comes up empty, suggesting that he hasn't achieved enough notability yet. King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 19:37, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, just to add a bit more references to him showing up in the media. here is the article on ESPN where he gets a mention. According to Ronald Jenkee's [ bio page], he was given the oppurtunity to write the theme song for Bill Simmons' podcast. And from listening to the podcast, it actually sounds like Ronald's voice at the beginning doing the intro. And according to some comments on youtube, one of his videos appeared on Youtube's front page once. So, coming from a neutral stance, I think that makes him mildly notable. The fact that he has over a million channel views and several of his videos have received a half million to 2 million views kinda shows that he is popular. -- Suso (talk) 20:09, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Note: The article has been deleted four times, all in November 2007. Most versions were extremely poorly written, and failed to assert significance. The one version was did provide citations only provided self-published references. If you're really interested in getting an article established, write one in your user space (user:Suso/Ronald Jenkees) and add a request in the section below (requests for edits to a protected page) once it addresses WP:BLP, WP:RS, and WP:NN. —EncMstr (talk) 07:16, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Semi-protection. Persistent everyday vadalism by the same anonymous IP starting with 83., who keeps inserting the same uncyclopedic concert-date which is unnecessary to have within the article, this was also spotted by an an admin. - Semi-protected by Oxymoron (and J. Delanoy) for about 12 hours. Looks like these two admins edit-conflicted on the protection; no big deal. Tan ǀ 39 04:17, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Semi-protection. IP's from the 124.13.* range are repeatedly ([5][6][7][8][9]) adding information relating to "Weekend Splash Concert Season 5", a show that the article's subject hosts. However, the information being added to the article is a full set of results from the entire season of the show — stuff that has VERY little to do with the article's subject (see diffs above). I suggested in the edit summaries that one could create an article on the television show itself, but obviously edit summaries don't mean much to them. Unfortunately, the anons just persist. - Actually I didn't mean for you to ban me :) Facts: a user has a problem with two images for aesthetic reasons. Neither images violates a wiki policy. In discussion 2 users vote to retain the images, the user caspian blue wants to delete. Despite the matter being under discussion and him being on the losing side, he unilaterally deleted the images. I've restored. He's deleted. Undo war. So I requested page protection. Mindme (talk) 10:58, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: There have been many IPs recently that removed the "emo" genre from the infobox. I have explained in the talk page and in my edit summaries that this is a fully sourced genre and should stay, but IP users continue to ignore the comments stating not to edit the genre. I'm guessing this should only be temporary, as it didn't happen before the genre was added in. I don't want to break 3RR, so I thought it would be better to temporarily protect the article. I don't know if this is enough to semi-protect the page, but I figured it's better than getting myself blocked. Should I report this somewhere else instead? — FatalError 22:41, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
