Cinema of Kerala vs Malayalam cinema

Why was this moved? It seems like the latter is the more frequently-used phrase, and also the more inclusive, because the article is about Malayalam-language cinema, not necessarily films only made within Kerala? Also, we generally use "Cinema of..." for articles about national cinemas, not subgroupings within a country. Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 22:54, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Meena Warning

Your moving controversial pages without discussion - a move that can get you in trouble! DO NOT DO THAT!

Further more, when has Meena eve rbeen known to the public as Meena Durairaj - never! Unlike Trisha Krishnan, Shriya Saran, Preity zinta and so forth, Meena falls into the name category of the likes of Tabu and Rambha. LINKS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO MEENA! February 2009

I'll be looking to make a start on the article soon. I'm going to try and clean up Ancient Tamil country and would really appreciate input there. :-) Wubbabubba (talk) 15:29, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Vettaikkaaran (2009 film) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Thank you. Hi

Can you check my homepage and check if it is ok and if it needs improving. Thanks, -SacHeiN-

Dude, that is amazing, it looks much better. Keep up the good work. -SacHeiN-

Mgr article .

Hello, Mr.Eelamstylez77. I'm Mr.Thulsai12345 here. About the Mgr article you said, it is not based on humours. If you don't believe, you can't see by the references on the article. Or you can search about it on Yahoo.com about Vijay's Mgr. Thulasi12345 (talk) March 08, 2009, 1128 hours

Mgr article

Mr. Eelamstylez77, the Mgr I meant was not the fictional film which was shown in Joseph Vijay's cameo Pandhayam film. The official announcement will be made soon. Wikipedia.org is one of the most best and popular website in the world. Here, we as wikipedians must provide information as much as we can so people who view, will be satiesfied. Example take a film which has done it's offical announcement, Mgr. Many don't know about the film's infomartion. So, many will try to search in Wikipedia.org, where we give the information about the film. They will be satisfied of it and started to like wikipedia much. So, articls about film which haven't done it's offical announcement is useful in wikipedia.

Tamil Eelam

Somehow I managed to redirect the banner to the main page so that problem is kind of sorted! :) -SacHeiN-

You know on the left hand corner it has 'Tamil Eelam' when you press it,it goes main page. Do you think we should change it to: [1] or something else. You decide. :) -SacHeiN-
When I redirect the map it goes below the news for some reason.
That is a good idea, we should change the infobox and separate it news, videos, pictures so on. -SacHeiN-
(I mean the logo on the left hand side, change it to a map with the writing 'Tamil Eelam'.)[2]
Check the infobox for the news: [3]. I can't take out the map. -SacHeiN-
Check the infobox for the videos: [4]
Can you design the logo with a nice font? Can you change the Tamil Eelam map to a nice color and the logo images should be 135x135 pixels :) Thanks -SacHeiN-
Can you also do a Favicon. When you have the time:] -SacHeiN-
You decide! :] I really can't think of a image to put there. :( Try and make one and we will decide later what to use. Thanks for your contribution. -SacHeiN-

Have you noticed that when you view the homepage, on a screen which isn't a widescreen the banner goes further (you have to drag it to the right to see it) but the news and and other stuff just goes down. Hope you know what I am talking about. -SacHeiN-

Don't worry, problem fixed. Have you done the logo or shall I do it in case you are busy. -SacHeiN-
Far as I know it has to be .ico :| -SacHeiN-
This should help: http://www.convertico.com/ I hope:|
It's way, way better than mine! I have uploaded it. Thanks You. -SacHeiN-
I was thinking of adding a menu bar to all pages with the banner what do you think?
I forgot to tell you, I changed the front page to a lighter color and arranged things around so I could add more on. What do you think?
This is just an example of the menu bar, it will be seen on all pages: [5] -SacHeiN-
Good point, can you send it to: sachein2000@hotmaiil.co.uk
For the menu bar I got Home, News, Articles, Pictures, videos What else shall I put and what order?
I am so sorry to give you all these tasks to do, I'm just busy with writing extensions for the website and extensions confuse me. Anyways can you create the buttons for me. If you have the time that's only.

This is the website where you can make buttons for free: http://cooltext.com/, I can't put html codes at the moment on the site. If you know any other websites feel free to use it.

This is the menu layout: Home, News, Articles, Pictures, Videos, Events, Contact Us, About Us.

Just upload it on to the site.

The color for the blue used on the site is: #cedff2

-SacHeiN- spelt the email wrong: sachein2000@hotmail.co.uk

I deleted the page 'Tamil Eelam Protests' and changed all the links to 'Tamil Eelam Events'. I hope that helps :-)

List of Tamil film actors

Hey, I am aware and pleased with your decision to clean up the article, but I feel the supporting role thing really doesn't work and could be removed.

For example, some of the actors you haven't highlighted:

    • Arya was a supporting actor in Arinthum Ariyamalum
    • Arjun was a supporting actor in Bommalattam
    • Arvind Swamy was a supporting actor in Alaipayuthey
    • Arya was a supporting actor in Arinthum Ariyamalum
    • Kamal Haasan was a supporting actor at the start of his career
    • Mohanlal in many films was a supporting actor such as Aag or even in Unnaipol Oruvan
    • Prasanna in Anjathey
    • Prashanth in Kalloori Vaasal
    • Prithviraj in Kana Kandaen and Abhiyum Naanum
    • Ravi Krishna in Kaadhalna Summa Illai
    • Siddharth in Aayitha Ezhuthu
    • Vijay in Sendhoorapandi

I'm not sure the best way around it, but at the moment it seems ambiguous, the best way would be to rank them by "order" and explain why. Like actors of the 1960s, popular stars, blah blah.

Tamil Cinema

It is the burnden of the person who wishes to add or return material to the article to supply the source. -- The Red Pen of Doom 20:03, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think that it is rather unlikely that there will actually be sources found that support the content as written, and that editors will need to radically re-write the article to match what is found in the sources and therefore "leaving the content" as a guide to future sourcing is not a convincing arguement. It also does not at all address the return of the the WP:PEACOCK terms that are abounding in the version of the article which you have reverted to. Even with "sources" they are completely inappropriate for an encyclopedia article. -- The Red Pen of Doom 01:23, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As a show of good faith on your part that the article is actually going to be improved, can you provide sourcing for at least one of the challenged items in the next 24 hours from when you get this message? -- The Red Pen of Doom 04:52, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wrote a little about the 2009 British Tamil protests on my user page. Check it out. I type so fast that there may be some grammatical error, can you correct it. Tell me what else to add and I will add it.(I forgot a lot of things, just remind because I may know) I will add more references in later, I just used references from TamilNet and Tamil Eelam Online. Cut and paste moves of articles such as this are not appropriate. WP:MOVE. -- The Red Pen of Doom 17:26, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The cut and paste move has been reverted per [6]. Please follow the steps to request a discussion to formally move the article to a new title. request a move Thanks. -- The Red Pen of Doom 22:42, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2009 Tamil protests

The 2009 Tamil protests article is amazing, keep up the good work. I have been busy going to protests and updating our website, I didn't have time to update 2009 Tamil protests in the United Kingdom, but will soon by this week. I will try to write about protests in other countries. Xxxsacheinxxx (talk) 07:59, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As a reminder, removing large amounts of unsourced, POV commentary from articles is not vandalism. Adding/returning such material is. -- The Red Pen of Doom 15:38, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am removing it because it is not "valuable information"; it is unsourced POV opinions that have no place in an encyclopedia and which violate core policies of Wikipedia WP:V, WP:NPOV, WP:OR. -- The Red Pen of Doom 18:40, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that vijay.com is not a reliable source, thrid party source to support claims that Vijay is a "popular actor". Many of the other sources also appear to be non-compliant with our reliable source policy and many many many POV claims about films' the popluarlity or lack thereof are still in the article and will either need to be supported by a source or removed. -- The Red Pen of Doom 22:39, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Vijay

Hello, Eelamstylez77. I'm concerning about your edits on Joseph Vijay's article. In the filmography paragraph, you have stated his film in 2010 is Urimai Kural. That is wrong. The thruth is, his film was named as Mgr. Yopu get it. If you don't believe, you can see the references I've stated. So, please don't make wrong edits and if you're sure with your edits, please state references. Regards, World Cinema Writer (talkcontributions) 08:16, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't you saw my references there? What is your proove to say that the film will be Urimai Kural? Vijay has three things that are related to Mgr.
  1. Joseph Vijay is a fan of M. G. Ramachandran (a.k.a Mgr).
  2. He using Mgr's film film, Vettaikkaaran for his upcoming 49th film
  3. He using the title called Mgrfor his 50th film.

Do you understand ? I've cited my sources and references. Please follow the rules in Wikipedia. If you can cite your sources about Urimai Kural, at least one, I'll believe you. Regards, World Cinema Writer (talkcontributions) 07:40, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't you see my references? World Cinema Writer (talkcontributions) 06:37, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, it didn't confirm that the film's title may be Urimai Kural. World Cinema Writer (talkcontributions) 06:44, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not every site. If you search in Google or Yahoo! about Mgr (in the name of Vijay's MGR), they show three things:
  1. Vijay's 49th film: ...Vijay's using yesteryear Mgr's film title called Vettaikkaaran...
  2. Fictional film: ...Don't be too excited. Mgr is a film ina a film...
  3. Real film: Vijay is using the tile, Mgr for his 50th film

I am not very active in Wikipedia as we are still consolidating plants in Toronto to keep up with the current economic conditions. I have abreak now as I am almost done shutting one down but my responsibilities have now become three fold starting next week. Image permission problem with Image:Josephvijay.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Josephvijay.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Amalthea 15:22, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The same goes for
  1. File:Suryasivakumar.jpg
  2. File:Rajinikanth.jpg
  3. File:450 tamil crowd 090130.jpg
  4. File:2009tamilprotests toronto2.jpg
  5. File:2009tamilprotest ottawa.jpg
  6. File:TN 07 AL 4777 film poster.jpg
If you cannot provide evidence that these images were released under a free license, as you claimed on the image description page, they will need to be deleted, and you will need to take more care in the future with image uploads. You're bringing Wikipedia, Wikipedia's re-users, and yourself into legal jeopardy.
Regards, Amalthea 15:32, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And another one: File:2009tamilprotests.jpg. You're a constructive editor here, can't you go through your upload log and sort out the ones that you didn't take yourself and that can't be used under a claim of fair use, and mark them for speedy deletion yourself? It would spare me the research, and they very simply can't stay here. Amalthea 16:48, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi.
Just to let I know, I came across a couple of usable images. They are all licensed as either CC-by or CC-by-sa, which are acceptable free licenses. If you like one you should upload directly to Commons though:

Neither is as good as the commercial ones were, but that can't be helped.
Cheers, Amalthea 00:07, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on others' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2009 Tamil protests. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. TJ Spyke 17:41, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion

Iam on my way out the door and I am not an admin, but anyone can nominate an article for speedy deletion if it meets the criteria: WP:SPEEDY I am not seeing a specific criteria for advance promos for films, but reasons under Article 7 and Article 9 seem close. If you do not wish to bend the criteria, you can place a WP:PROD tag for deletion is 7 days: {subst:prod|REASON "future film that does not meet film notability criteria" or whatever} (note: use the double brackets rather than single) -- The Red Pen of Doom 21:45, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Urimai Kural

Yes, I can understand your advice for me about my latest article, Urimai Kural. Even, sometimes I think I shouldn't create the article and still keeping it in my sub-page. But, I've a bad feeling about you critic my as a user named Thulasi12345. What are the connections you can me? I've just seen Thulasi12345's page and I've founded he is a sock-puppet user. Orphaned non-free media (File:Ayan 1.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Ayan 1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:19, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Editing without using Talk Page

Why do you persist? This is bad form, and more of this behaviour will elicit an official warning.174.114.232.143 (talk) 16:48, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits don't require Talk Page consultation. Better you take your own advice. Eelam StyleZ (talk) 16:51, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
HA! I was just coming here to put the same warning in place. Nobody considers your edits "minor", Eelamstylez, so that argument doesn't hold. No reasonable editor would. Stop, or you will be warned, then banned. Almost everybody else is discussing things on the talk page - except you. Join in. I urge you. Be constructive. Seek consensus. The article is not yours.99.245.37.46 (talk) 21:08, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this edit, has the Chinese beta already been released? I could not find any sources saying the Chinese beta had been released. Thank you for your contributions. TechOutsider (talk) 08:17, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

Hi
I notice you uploaded three pictures today, all claim that you own copyright and created them yourself on July 24, 2009. How come I find two of the three at various places on the web, one from quite a while back. What's going on?
Amalthea 20:28, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since you haven't answered I'll assume that all three are copyright violations, again. I'm disappointed by this, in particular since we have had the same problem a couple sections up, and I thought you understood that you have to be more careful and actually think about copyright with your message on my talkpage. What you did instead is upload yet another copyright violation with File:Toronto Montage 2.jpg. You declared it your own work, and that you owned copyright, but that is not true – you only assembled pictures from other authors. The arrangement might be your copyright, but the originals aren't, so you don't own sole copyright of the montage. It might be possible to salvage this one if the different CC licenses of the originals can somehow be united under one, but I don't think it is.
Again, from now on you have to always truthfully declare where you got an image. If you don't, experience has taught me that you probably just again are "not minding copyright licenses" and have just taken it from somewhere else. Amalthea 08:29, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:Rajinikanth.JPG

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Rajinikanth.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Polly (Parrot) 20:35, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of content

I am removing unsourced analysis and personal commentary which have NO PLACE in encyclopedia articles. If "there is nothing left" in the articles, it is because there was no verifiable content to begin with. -- The Red Pen of Doom 03:35, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
