Duane Martin (born August 11, 1965) is an American film and television actor.
Personal life
Martin was born in Dayton OH, and went to Dunbar High school and failed the 9th grade freshman year.Then met Tisha Campbell at the New York Liberty City Awards for the World records by doing backflips.
Career
Martin had a short stint as a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the New York Knicks. He was signed to a 1 year contract, but he was released after 3 months[1] due to injury.[2] He is the owner of Impact Sports, a company that represents professional athletes.[2]
A native of New York and NYU graduate. Duane was drafted by the New York Knicks before pursuing an acting career.
His love for sports was the motivation for him to launch his own sports agency, "Impact Sports." Duane started "Impact Sports," with 2 clients holding $1 million in contracts, the company has since expanded and now represents 50 clients and holds $1 billion in contracts.
Over the years, "Impact Sports," has become one of the premiere sports agencies in the industry and handles some of the most sought after players in the NFL, NH, and MLB.
After acquiring an extensive real estate holdings portfolio (valued in the millions), Duane recently launched a real estate company which will revitalize homes in the inner city by giving underprivileged families the rare opportunity to become home owners.
Martin first made his TV appearance in the short-lived NBC comedy series Out All Night, which also starred Patti LaBelle, Vivica A. Fox and Morris Chestnut. He appeared in the Boyz II Men music video "I'll Make Love to You". He was a cast member with Vivica A. Fox and Jon Cryer in the short-lived Fox sitcom Getting Personal. He portrayed TV reporter Robert James on the The CW TV series All of Us, Chuck on Rita Rocks (2009), and Fernando on The Paul Reiser Show (2011).
Notable feature film roles include Willie in White Men Can't Jump (1992), Jr. Philips in The Inkwell (1994), and Kyle Lee Watson in Above the Rim (1994). In the romantic comedy The Seat Filler (2004), Martin plays a lead role as law student Derrick who falls in love with a celebrity.
