Robert E. Jordon, M.D., is a professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center. He served as the chair of the department until his retirement in 2001, and was succeeded by Ronald P. Rapini. While he was a student at the Mayo school of medicine, he and E. H. Beutner discovered that pemphigous is an autoimmune disease; a finding they subsequently published in 1964.[1] Jordan and Beutner were awarded the Dermatology Foundation's 2000 Discovery Award.[2]
As of 2009, he runs a part-time (1 day a week) clinic focused on blistering disease such as pemphigous.[citation needed]
