Season chronology

This is a list of episodes of the current Japanese broadcast of the Pokémon anime series, broadcast in Japan under the title Pokémon: XY (ポケットモンスター エックスワイ, Poketto Monsutā Ekkusu Wai), featuring protagonist Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu traveling through the Kalos Region with new companions Clemont, secretly Lumiose City's Gym Leader, Clemont's younger sister Bonnie, and Ash's childhood friend Serena who attended Professor Oak's Summer Camp in Pallet Town some time in the past.

Overview

The division between seasons of Pokémon is based on the English version openings of each episode, and may not reflect the actual production season. The English episode numbers are based on their first airing in the United States either in syndication on Cartoon Network, or in Canada on the YTV TV channel. Other English-speaking nations largely follow either this order or the Japanese order.

This seasons English opening theme is a remixed shortened version of the original "Gotta catch 'em all!" theme from the first season.[1] This season also marked a return of "Gotta catch 'em all!" as the English slogan, seen during the "Who's That Pokémon?" eyecatch.

The first episode of this season aired on October 17, 2013, in Japan. After a special preview on October 19, 2013, the season properly premiered in the United States on January 18, 2014.
