As a briefly famous popular icon, Spuds was referenced in lots of places by lots of people. And most of it irrelevant. Here is my proposed guideline for inclusion in the Cultural references section: the referrer must 1. have their own article and 2. mention the Spud link in their own article. — Alan De Smet | Talk 23:59, 3 November 2009 (UTC) |

Twice, I've corrected someone who claims that the dog who played Spuds was named "Beauregard Lollygags." The real name of the dog was "Honey Tree Evil Eye." This is corroborated by the "Find a Grave" link that's used as a citation for that particular fact. If anyone has sources proving otherwise, I'm more than happy to back off, but the "Honey Tree Evil Eye" name is referenced in the current sources. As far as I can tell, the person inserting "Beauregard Lollygags" is just a vandal. Literate Pervert (talk) 22:57, 2 March 2015 (UTC) |

mackenzie brothers?
Am I misremembering something or is this true: did Spuds (supposedly, it is after all a dog in a marketing campaign and they are fictional) start out as Bob and Doug MacKenzie's dog? --Andymussell 03:17, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- I can't disprove that exactly, but in the McKenzie bros. movie (Strange Brew, which being released in 1983 predates Spuds), their dog is named Hosehead and he's black.

- Also, the MacKenzie's drank Molsen and assorted Canadian beers. --Endlessdan 19:21, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Culture Reference
Spuds MacKenzie was parodied in Bloom County (comic strip, Berkley Breathed) for a couple weeks. It's in the Mary Kay Commandos book. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.120.236.77 (talk) 18:00, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
