Cool-A-Coo is an ice cream sandwich made with "vanilla ice cream sandwiched between oatmeal cookies dipped in chocolate. They are made fresh in Southern California and are a local delicacy."[1] They have been a specialty in the Los Angeles area for over 25 years. It is the original ice cream sandwich of the Dodgers.[1]
Although it is the original ice cream sandwich of the Dodgers, Cool-A-Coo disappeared from Dodger stadium in 1998 when Peter O'Malley sold the Dodgers to News Corp.[2] Due to popular demand and thousands of requests from loyal fans through a suggestion box put out by, Stan Krasten, CEO of the Dodgers, Cool-A-Coo made its comeback to the stadium in 2012.[3]
Since its absence, Leo Politis, the original Cool-A-Coo maker in El Monte, California sold his company and the Cool-A-Coo trademark to Sweet Novelty.[4] For Cool-A-Coo to comeback, "the Dodgers had to negotiate a contract with Sweet Novelty to manufacture the Cool-A-Coo and renegotiate deals with ice cream vendors who would now have a competitor at the concession stand."[4]
