Pure is a dating service app for Apple iOS and Android created by Getpure Inc.

The purpose of the app is to connect like-minded local singles on demand in a time-limited fashion. The app is unique in that it offers users the security and comfort of temporary, time-limited accounts that last up to an hour. Within this hour, users have they opportunity to connect with local singles using the phone’s GPS function. The app is open to all sexualities but focuses primarily on giving women a safe and secure hookup experience. The app’s time-limited accounts also address recent security leaks and controversies surrounding online dating platforms such as ashelymadison.com.

History

The original concept for Pure was developed in 2012 by Roman Sidorenko and Alexander Kukhtenko. Following a two hundred thousand dollar start-up investment, the project became a reality and was advertised under the slogan of "Sex Here and Now". Included in the project was writer and sexologist Carol Queen. Following its creation an English version was released in the AppStore at the end of October 2014 and a Russian market version was released later in January 2014. In June 2015 an Android specific version of the App was released.

Despite the fact that Pure was designed on a budget of only $400,000 the turnaround has been rapid with Pure has already proven proving already to be a cash positive investment. In an interview, designer Roman Sidorenko stated that the popularity of the App was undeniable, with over l million connections having been made. Even prior to launch there were more than 100,000 people onsigned up to the waiting list.[1]

However, while this App is gaining ground market leaders such as Tinder still hold the majority when it comes to connections and dating services. However, but with the current growth in demand, it is impossible to tell what will happen in the near future.

Premise and Function

Unlike many other dating services the idea behind Pure is simplicity. With application of a selfie users can find other people who may respond through the simple "Interested / Not Interested" style interface. In order to use the service a sign up fee is required that will provide either 12 or 24 hour access to the service. The user must thenm create a quick account by uploading a selfie or available picture which will be shown to the connected people. The premise of the picture is that it plays the role of an application form simplified down to its basice components. When the profile is completed it is uploaded to the service which connects userswhere connected people within 50 kilometers. Users are then listed as contacts,[2] established by GPS systems, will be listed as contacts. If users match, Should both parties agree a mutual interest then the opportunity to chat becomes available. and Tthe service ends with both parties being able to correspond. Each application created is time limited. One hour after the creation of the account all data is removed from the system including contact information, the user created profile, and pictures, and any history of correspondence.[3] In order to continue using the service, the user must begin the process again by creating a new profile. It is this time limited factor of the service, along with and the removal of information, thatwhich makes the system secure against information leaks or discovery.

Reaction

Regardless of their popularity, the question regarding society‘s view on the morals of hook-up sites haves always been seen as a controversial topic since their inception. While Pure is available to anyone, the central focus of the app has always been on the empowerment of women has always been at the forefront of the creators minds. According to sexologist Carol Queen, "Some women, far from being hard-wired for monogamy, find erotic value in novelty — new partners can awaken a snoozing libido quicker than anything, an insight that isn’‘t so surprising when we describe men in this context".[4] She goes on to describe how women can feel trapped by the pressures of a perceived moral society while coping with underlying feelings and desires that are shared by everyoneeverybody has. These new freedoms, available through websites and apps such as such as Craigslist, Tinder, and OkCupid and other Apps have allowed women to break free of what they think that society expects of them. However, with safety being a major issue, for women many women have been put off using such sites.

Response to the Ashley Madison leak

Following the controversial leak at Ashley Madison, many users of dating or hookup sites have suddenly found that the game has now changed. And now more than ever security and anonymity areis at the forefront of user’s minds. In a statement about the safety and security of Pure, co-creator Roman Sidorenko in a statement assured customers that “confidentiality and anonymity are part of our DNA,” and that since Pure due to Pure’s unique profile system that does not require a phone number, email address, or social media login to use. Moreover, the onecoupled with the l-hour deletion function means that users maymeetings would continue meeting without discovery.[2] In order to reinforce his belief in the suitability of Pure’sf their service to clients, Roman Sidorenko highlighted the fact that all customer payments services are exclusively handled exclusively by the service providers (Google, Apple). At no point does Pureand that they never at any point have access to either payment information or customer details.[3]

Endorsement, Claims and Response to Controversy

Carol Queen is a renowned and respected author, sexologist, and sociologist. She is and the founder of the San Francisco Center for Sex and Culture and has. Having been withonboard the project Pure since its inception. Her support and concern for the sexual wellbeing of all people has proven to be a great source of legitimacy for this project, particularly with regard to the promotion of links to this app and to the sexual wellbeing of all people has helped to endorse the legitimacy of this App.

It is claimed by Getpure, the creators of this App that their service is aimed at promoting sexual liberation and the principles of a sex-positive movement.
