Madhuca sericea is a tree in the Sapotaceae family. It grows up to 33 metres (110 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 60 centimetres (24 in). The bark is greyish brown. Inflorescences bear up to seven flowers. The fruits are ellipsoid, up to 3.5 centimetres (1 in) long and greyish when young. The specific epithet sericea is from the Latin meaning "silky", referring to the indumentum. Habitat is mixed dipterocarp forest from sea-level to 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) altitude. M. sericea is found in Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Borneo.[2]
