Izzy the Frenchie is a French Bulldog living in East Hampton, New York. Izzy the Frenchie is best known as an internet celebrity that gained a large internet and social media following as a fashionista in 2018.[1] Izzy the Frenchie was born in Northern California and moved with her new owner Rick Hendrix to the Hamptons in New York.The Mayor of Nashville, TN in 2020 issued an executive order and proclamation declaring August 26th "Izzy The Frenchie Day" in the city.[2]
Popularity
Izzy the Frenchie's notoriety, began when she was a 5-week old pup in a bath video.[3][4][5] Izzy's owners, created an Instagram page to share her adventures with their family and friends, the Instagram account has over 1 million followers. The bath video was shared on Instagram and became an immediate viral sensation around the world, with over 12 million views within 24 hours.[6][7][1] Izzy's video was shared or watched by nearly a half a billion views from multiple shares on social media platforms. Izzy the French was listed in People's "21 Adorable Instagrams in 2017".[8]
Izzy the Frenchie has her own Facebook and Twitter pages. Izzy has made public appearances at various events like DC Pride and PetCon where she was greeted by fans from all over the world in a multi-hour meet and greet in 2018.[9][10] She has been featured in Vogue and asked to appear in her feature for the annual who's who of pop cultures Paper's "Break the Internet" in their November 2018 issue as one of the most viral icons of 2018.[11][1] Izzy became an ambassador for luxury hotel The Plaza Hotel in New York City in 2018.[1] Izzy's dresses are made by a former Dior designer.
Izzy's engagement to Filmore was announced on January 10, 2019, by Izzy soon to be grandmother-in-law, Whoopi Goldberg in an Instagram post.[12] Filmore's owner is Alex Martin the only child of the Academy Award-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg.[13] The announcement prompted positive comments about the social significance of such a large over the top ceremony. Entertainment Tonight called it the wedding of 2019, Brides Magazine said it set the stage for modern canine weddings and the new Lady and the Tramp.[12][14]The news of the engagement was announced on the TV show and website of TMZ and Vanity Fair and was called the wedding of our times. The wedding was in a top secret location, with a private guest list and famed celebrity photographer Timothy White photographed the couple.[15] New York reported a reception was to be held at the estate of Whoopi Goldberg outside of New York City.[16]

Izzy is owned by Rick Hendrix[17] and with her Instagram success has been featured on MTV, NBC, The Today Show, NY1 and CBS News.[4][18] She is also part of Pet Insider team.[19] She also appeared on Right This Minute as a featured dog.[3] Izzy appeared in NYC PetCon and was among the 70 pet influencer.[1] Izzy was featured on The Doctors (talk show) in October 2020 with her parents discussing the importance of wearing a mask. [20]

Izzy the Frenchie, was signed to Simon & Schuster for the book "Wear the Damn Mask", released on November 17,2020. [21] Izzy the Frenchie set out on a virtual book tour, " Wear the Damn Mask 2020" to bring awareness to the importance of wearing a mask. The book tour made media stops on The Doctors (talk show),[20] and stops on The View (talk show), NBC News.[22][23][24]
Izzy began grabbing the interest of the print, and online news sources for her fashion, and was featured in Vogue, Paper, People, U.S. News & World Report, Associated Press, BuzzFeed, Yahoo News, and The Today Show.[1][11][25][4][18][9][7][8]
