Luigi Gregori (August 2, 1933— January 17, 2023) popularly known as Gino Landi was an Italian choreographer, theater director and television director.[1][2][3]
Biography
Gino Landi was born in August 2, 1933 in Milan on a stage called Dal Verne to a two variety artists.[1][4][5]He began his career as a dancer but later changed to choreography. He was brought into limelight by Erminio Macario while he was performing Bulli e pupe with Fanfulla. During his lifetime, he worked with cinema and television till he became a well known director and choreographer in the national and international theater and television scene.[6][7][8][9]
Career
Gino Landi worked with composer Nino Rota, filmmaker Federico Fellini and screenwriter Ennio Flaiano to co-author the screenplays for "La Dolce Vita" (1960) and "8½" (1963).[10][11]He was the director of some of the editions of the Sanremo Festival, the Festivalbar and theatrical performances such as Rugantino and Roman Holiday in conjunction with Garinei and Giovannini.[12] He also directed some operas such as "Les contes d'Hoffmann" by Offenbach, "La Rondine" by Puccini and "Il mondo della Luna" by Paisiello[11][7] Pippo Baudo, an Italian TV presenter remarker that:
I worked a lot with him, we did theater and a lot of television. All my Fantasticos were directed and choreographed by Gino Landi.[7]
Death
Gino died in his residence at Rome on Tuesday morning at the age of 89 due to health problems. [13][8][10]
