Listing Exchange Data International on Wikipedia

Hello, I am currently working on listing Exchange Data International as a Financial Data Vendor on Wikipedia. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Financial_data_vendors) I noticed you deleted the previous article. I was wondering if you would be kind enough to share some insights as to why the previous page was not good enough and the things to look out for creating a new article. Your input would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Sharon Otieno Cheksharon (talk) 14:25, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) Hi Cheksharon - I'll give you some guidance on your talk page. Girth Summit (blether) 17:42, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Page Jaan Nissar Lone

Jaan Nissar Lone is the biggest Kashmiri Music Director and Producer and as the ambassador of culture I believe He deserves a Wikipedia page and only someone with ill will and vested interests would have requested a page deletion.

Can you please tell me why it was deleted? Hazytalks (talk) 02:32, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hazytalks, if you cannot be bothered to provide a link, why should I bother to investigate? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:01, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Sir, I can't find any link in there but as the page name is protected and only administrators can alter it. The closest thing I could find about the item is this link:
    https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q61405020
Please tell me if this works Hazytalks (talk) 05:50, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
RH, forgive me butting in. The page in question is Jaan Nissar Lone, which has been salted because of repeated recreation by sockpuppets and likely by paid editors. Draft:Jaan Nissar Lone is also salted after repeated recreation by blocked/banned users. And now here we have Hazytalks, whose only interest seems to be in creating an article that has a track record of creation by blocked editors who may have been paid to create the article… —C.Fred (talk) 15:51, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Fred, my only interest is to understand why if some bots create a profile and engage in spam behavior and for that reason editors and admins block the page for a while, but if the entity in question is legitimate and deserves a page, how can that be distinguished and there should be a way to either discuss that or approach someone for that. There appears to be someone named Farooq Wani, that has repeatedly blocked the page creation without any explanation. Hazytalks (talk) 16:06, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Hazytalks: I'm not sure who Farooq Wani is, but User:Farooqahmadbhat is the banned user whose actions led to protection of all the related pages. —C.Fred (talk) 16:31, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes Farooq Ahmad Bhat. So a banned user was responsible for something that affects other people. Who are legitimate people with legitimate aspirations. Thank you Fred for your help, are you an administrator? Hazytalks (talk) 16:38, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hazytalks, stop moaning! Your contributions history suggests that you are just as much a single-purpose account as those who have tried to write about this guy in thepast. You received some good advice here though, admittedly, BD2412 did not notice that the draft title is also protected. I see that we have eight articles that mention his name so he may now meet our notability criteria. I suggest you look through the edit history of these articles to identify an editor who seem s to be well into this area. Contact that editor and submit a draft to them via their talk page. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:07, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the suggestion. This makes sense. It's hard to navigate the platform at least initially. I understand I don't have much of a history but I am committed to making positive changes.
Because you are an administrator and you might have better privileges, I am unable to see the thread any more. Can you please help me with identifying the editor or suggest one.
Thank you RH Hazytalks (talk) 13:13, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Unable to see the thread" - what thread do you mean? I am no longer an administrator but the suggestion I made does not need admin rights - so you do the research:
  • find the eight articles that refer to Jaan
  • look at the edit history of each article and identify an editor who seems to have made many contributions
  • specifically, you could find which editor has added Jaan’name to each article
  • contact that editor.
Best of luck. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:33, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.
I will do that. Thank you very much Hazytalks (talk) 16:52, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Acetylated Wood

I notice you deleted a page Acetylated wood in 2016 due to advertising. I have no idea what was on that page and had nothing to do with it.

The section in English on acetylated wood has much less information than the German acetylated wood Wiki page: Wood preservation#Wood acetylation.

I propose to translate the German Wiki page on Acetylated Wood to English. I have nothing to do with this industry, I just occasionally translate pages from German to English when I see there is no English page or the English page is lacking, compared to the German.

I don't think there is any significant advertising in the German article, but due to your previous deletion, before I spend significant time on this, would you mind checking this machine translation.

Note that the machine translation appears to be missing the latest edit, which includes references to other manufacturers of acetylated wood under the Market section. The latest version under Market when translated to English reads:

There used to be only one manufacturer of acetylated wood under the brand name Accoya. Accsys Technologies (formerly Titan Wood), based in London and previously with a production facility in Arnhem in the Netherlands, began manufacturing the Monterey pine product on a larger scale in 2007 after much research.[3]
Since at least 2012 there have been several manufacturers of acetylated wood such as Eastman Chemical and Accsys[4]

  • Lkingscott, I am no longer an admin so I cannot see the content but, as you say, the deletion reason was advertising and the article in de: is patently not advertising. So my recommendation is: go for it! The page is not protected so go ahead and publish your translation. If you have reliable sources you could also add why the material has not become more popular and how it compares in price with steel or concrete. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:01, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for the reply! Lkingscott (talk) 08:19, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mukpuddy Animation

Hi I am wanting to resurrect an article that was AfD by you 9 July 2014 or a least take a look at the reasoning. The company is one of the more significant animation firms in New Zealand and while not large by global standards is within a New Zealand context having made a number of successful children's programmes over the past 20 years. Just for clarity I am not in any way related to the company or related fields. Also a move into Draft would probably be best at this stage. NealeWellington (talk) 09:08, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
