Reuters article does not mention that Israel gave the offshore oil rig to the Palestinian authorities
[edit]A source is needed for the portion under ownership and access disputes when it states “ In June 18 2023 the Israeli government have decided to build the infrastructure of the off-shore rig and give it to the Palestinian government. “. The Reuters article mentions the building of the offshore rig but nowhere in there does it say that it has been given to the Palestinian government. Moreover, the article says the PI refused to comment and Hamas restated that Palestinians have the right to profit off of their land. This suggests that the off-shore rigs were not given to the Palestinians, at least in the terms that would be acceptable to them. 70.23.51.116 (talk) 14:31, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
"It has been estimated that Gaza Marine contains upwards of 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas."
By who's estimate? Is a trillion a lot? Can we trust this estimate? I'm reading online allegations that this natural gas is the "real reason" for the genocide of the Palestinian people, and came here to get some sense of scale and value. How much is a trillion cubic feet of natural gas worth? Are we talking real money here, or is this chump change?

Financial Value of this Gas Deposit?
[edit]It seems like such an obvious fact that is missing from the Article that I am forced to wonder why it is absent. You drill for oil and gas for money, and so when describing a resource like oil or gas, it's value is the first thing you think about, and not it's volume, size, color, depth, or whether or not it likes moonlit walks on the beach.
The field was discovered in 2000 by BG Group and it is estimated to contain more than 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
A "trillion cubic feet" seems like a lot to me. Meanwhile, the Wikipedia Article on "Natural Gas on the Gaza Strip" describes it's size as "mediocre".
"The discovered gas field Gaza Marine, though mediocre in size, had been considered at the time as one of the possible drives to boost Palestinian economy and promote regional cooperation."''
So which is it? "Mediocre", or a "trillion"? Is one trillion cubic feet of gas still considered "mediocre"? And why is the financial value of this mediocre, one trillion cubic feet absent from the Article? Is this primary fact's absence in some way connected to the military actions taking place by Israel in Palestine right now?
