[edit]"but is assigned by historians to the period between the fourth and sixth centuries AD by scholars."
which schoolars gave this date??
research schoolars in history and literature have assigned this date
presently available evidence suggests rig veda's period is about 1500 BCE.all other sacred texts appeared later. in these no mention of moolar or his songs
BCE 3000 is much earlier than vedic period. Pali sanskrit were the language in north. the work thirumanthiram is in tamil whose language is not the language of changam period. It is uses the same linguistc features of "bakthi literature" of 4th to 6 th century AD.
To believe the story of humans living for 3000 yrs and singing one song each year is insanity.
His time
[edit]Not correct, he is mentioned in Suntharar' Thiruthondar Thokai (7.35.5) of 8 CE, and his work & how he composed it is mentioned in Thiruthondar Thiruvanthathi (11.33.36) of 10 CE. Further the name Thirumoolar gave his work is not Thirumanthiram, the correct name is Thirumanthiramalai. Thirumanthiram the shorter form developed later.
Further it is not correct that Thirumanthiram refers to works of the Mover Muthaliyar, it is the other way around.

- This is interesting. If you are sure that you are right, you may insert this information in the article by yourself. Unfortunately, I don't understand Tamil language and can't use your reference. — Cattani (talk) 02:21, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
