Toronto East General Hospital is a teaching hospital located in Toronto, Ontario, in the former borough of East York.
The hospital has 382 acute care beds, as well as 13 rehabilitation and 75 complex continuing care beds. In 2006/07, the hospital had over 60,000 emergency room visits and more than 19,000 in-patient admissions.[1]
Approximately 3,500 babies were delivered during this period at the hospital's Maternal Newborn and Child Health Centre, which provides Level II Maternity and Neonatal Care and is a regional paediatric centre of the Child Health Network of Toronto.[2]
The hospital's chief of staff is Dr. Alfio Meschino and its president and CEO is Rob Devitt.[3]
