Chelsea Lately
Chelsea Lately is a late-night comedy talk show on the television channel E!. It stars comedian Chelsea Handler and premiered on the E! channel on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 11:30 PM Eastern Time. On the show, Handler parodies celebrities and talks about her own personal views about different controversies celebrities have become involved in and different things going on in pop culture. The show is taped in Santa Monica, California, and the set was formerly used by a show on E!'s sister network G4, Attack of the Show! On August 24, 2007, she announced that E! has ordered 50 more episodes.
Predecessor
The predecessor to Chelsea Lately is the mini-series The Chelsea Handler Show.
Format
Chelsea Lately is presented in a half-hour format, and airs every night, Monday-Friday at 11:30 PM. Chelsea usually has a panel of three people who talk with her about celebrities and goings on in pop culture. Chelsea and her panelists sit at a round table. She also has a sidekick and assistant named "Chuy" that sits across from the round table and interviews studio audience guests and participates alongside Chelsea Handler in video segments for the show. She often has celebrity guests that she interviews on the show. Notable guests who have appeared on the show have been: Drew Lachey, Tiffany Pollard, Howie Mandel, and Holly Madison among others. Handler stated to Jay Leno that she tries to get celebrities who have a sense of humor on her show.
