My RfA
Hi TravisTX! Thank you for your support in my RfA (87/3/3).
|
Your opinion
Do you think my coachee User:WBOSITG is ready for an RFA? He's finished most of the coaching and everything, but I'd like to get your opinion. Here is a link to his coaching page. Take your time. Malinaccier (talk) 20:58, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well... IMHO, I don’t know if he’s ready yet. Most of his answers are good, but some show a weak understanding of policy. If I were coaching him, I think I’d throw some more deletion-related scenarios at him. That looks like the main issue that sunk his last RfA. —Travistalk 03:28, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! Malinaccier (talk) 15:44, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- I happen to agree with your assessment of his csd nominations (User:WBOSITG/Admin coaching#Let's talk about deletion). I think that his understanding of our deletion policy has greatly improved. Good work, by the way! —Travistalk 23:49, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you! He has done rather well there. Malinaccier (talk) 23:53, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Re:Opinion
For now, just drop the matter. If the user never comes back or never edits pages pertaining to the NY immigrant week, then it won't matter. If they do come back, then a block may be appropriate. I don't think you should make the block—after his comments about you on your old RFA—but I'm sure that another admin that is unconnected (me) would be willing to make it. Hope this helps, Malinaccier (talk) 00:26, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- Did you receive my recent email? Malinaccier (talk) 02:11, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- The one with additional notes added? Yes, then. Malinaccier Public (talk) 12:26, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Prison IP
That was the first one I'd ever looked at and I learned a lot. Next time I see something like this I'll have a more careful look at the contribs straight off. Thanks again for giving me the time to dig into it! Cheers. Gwen Gale (talk) 16:14, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, you’re welcome! And, yes, looking at the contribs and/or diffs is the first thing I do before taking any other action. Cheers! —Travistalk 17:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks

I noticed you offered it and I would like your help with learning about rollback. Thanks. I'll be offline for a bit.--RyRy5 (talk ♠ Review) 02:22, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- I notice from this discussion that you have been re-granted rollback privileges. In order to keep rollback, I suggest that you go through the tutorial at the above page and always remember to only use it to revert vandalism. No other use is acceptable. —Travistalk 02:35, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have learned that now. I read the page and the granting and revoking page. Is there anything else I should read? Also, what is "admin shopping", as it was mentioned a few times in this discussion?--RyRy5 (talk ♠ Review) 02:42, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- “Admin shopping,” I suppose, can be explained quite well by this article if you substitute judge/magistrate/court/etc. for admin. —Travistalk 02:46, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'll take a look. And how about my other questions, "Is there anything else I should read?"--RyRy5 (talk ♠ Review) 02:48, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Right. One thing that comes to mind is Wikipedia:Rollback feature. It explains when and when not to use rollback, and provides some links to additional information about rollback, such as Wikipedia:Rollback policy. And, as has been said before, rollback is to be used solely to revert vandalism, so you might want to review Wikipedia:Vandalism. —Travistalk 02:55, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- I read it but I'll read them again. BTW, do you use navigation popups to revert sometimes?--RyRy5 (talk ♠ Review) 03:14, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- No, I just use popups for the quick preview function. —Travistalk 16:28, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay. Well, that's really all the questions I have now. If I have more, I'll contact you. Thanks.--RyRy5 (talk ♠ Review) 02:03, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Not transcluded
This hasn't been transcluded yet. Malinaccier Public (talk) 16:22, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know, I just figured I’d add them while I was thinking about the subject. I know it’s improper to !vote before transclusion, but I hadn’t thought about including questions. If they shouldn’t be there yet, go ahead and revert. —Travistalk 16:26, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- It's fine. Just letting you know. Malinaccier Public (talk) 16:27, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- As you may have noticed, the overuse of {{db-nonsense}} and overly-broad interpretation of WP:NONSENSE is one of my pet peeves. —Travistalk 16:34, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

RE: Complaining
Yes, I'm just saying that. I'm not adding any more to the inevitable debate, I'll let others suffer the drama (I'm so nice!) =P weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 15:43, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
You might not want to use this as an example in the future. I've recreated the article with references. Just thought you'd like to know. Cheers! SynergeticMaggot (talk) 16:14, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I noticed that. Thanks for the heads-up, though! —Travistalk 16:26, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm. =P It's not a problem Travis. I don't see it failing on that one question; don't worry about it. weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 18:29, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Gear Acquisition Syndrome
Yep, non-notable WP:NEO via WP:PROD is fine with me. I'll do more on sunday! cheers, Nk.sheridan Talk 02:15, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Nice catch! Thanks for letting me know. - Rjd0060 (talk) 00:57, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Did you actually read this article before you declined the speedy for nonsense? Somehow I doubt that she was actually captured by Indians, ate her siblings or "received the metal of honor after single-handedly killing 30,000 troops with her funnel". Dipics (talk) 15:48, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
