Greetings to all from İstanbul

Hi, I'm Gökhan from Istanbul, Turkey.

I'm a member since July 2005. I started to be active beginning April 2006. I mostly contribute on articles regarding Turkey and Turkish people. I'm mostly interested in history and culinary specialties of my country.

Some articles I started or contributed to: Kokoreç, Şampiyon, Uykuluk, Moussaka, Sütlü Nuriye

I like investigating and reading about my family's roots. My grandmother is of Adyghe (Circassian) origin, my grandfather's family came from Bulgaria. I couldn't check the matter with my paternal side yet. Due to Balkan and Russian wars, and also Ottoman Empire's collapse later, a lot of muslims from Balkans and Caucasus had to emigrate to Turkey during 19th and 20th centuries. That would make an interesting set of articles sometime...

I dream to see less hatred and less prejudice about my people (at least) in Wikipedia :) I try to work to correct this but it seems we're outnumbered. With this process, I also learn to curb my sentimental approach on the matter, which is good.

Anyway... it's better than being a couch potato - right?

Cheers from Istanbul to all.
