Fixing the number of columns for Reflist

Hi Lezela. Please see Template:Reflist#Columns for how to set the reflist template to display references in more than one column. Fixing the number of columns using whole number is something no longer done when using that template because it makes easier to read for a variety of different scree sizes. Please see 2, |3 etc. and Template talk:Reflist/Archive 25 for discussions regarding this. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:57, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

okie dokie, thanks for letting me know. I will try to follow the latest convention. Lezela (talk) 12

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Indus River may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Warning

Hi! While I appreciate your effort to improve articles such as Sibalom Natural Park, many of your edits have been spammy (creating content forks, overcategorization, etc). Please follow standard WP rules and guidelines and check first to see if categories and articles have already been made before creating them. Thanks!--RioHondo (talk) 09:45, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I did create new category that are appropriate for the article, if an article happens to pertain to many categories so be it and i have seen articles with many more categories than what i have inserted for that article, so its just subjective and all criterias are evolving guidelines not to be used to bash and discourage fellow editors because some other editor has subjective judgment about number of categories to be inserted based on a random top-limit, only rational criteria should be that an article should reflect the relevant categories and if current wikipedia guidelines do not support then upgrade the guidelines (if guidelines are not in tune with rationality then rule book must not be thrown at editors to discourage them). I did insert tourism related category and that wa removed and i created a lower-level tourism related category and i do not see why is it NOT a relevant category? pls explain. What is content fork? before creating the category and articles i searched if they exist or not, it did not exist so i created tourism category for antique province. About any other content forking let me know the specifics and I will try to fix for this article and will be careful in the future. Please provide specific examples with justification. i hv provided detailed rationale and justification above already. thanks for the understanding. I enjoy contributing at wikipedia but in general times out of 10 I find it an unpleasant experience dealing with others reviewers, seems too many reviewers who just shoot form the hip and very rare GENUINELY COLLABORATIVE CO-EDITORS/contributors, which greatly reduces the experience at wikipedia, this needs to improve, these processes are broken and this kind of culture is counter productive Lezela
See WP:OVERCATEGORIZATION. You only create categories to match existing articles. Is there an article on Tourism in Antique, Philippines that discusses its tourism industry (impact on economy, revenues, etc and not just attractions)? See Tourism in Manila as an example. If not, then the existing Category:Visitor attractions in Antique (province) will suffice for individual articles on attraction. Again, categories should match existing articles. Those articles you created for Mount Porras, Sibalom River, etc have been problematic as well as they add no new information than what have already been published in parent article. That is NOT how you create and edit articles. Please read all the WP policies and guidelines posted above upon your signing so you may be familiarized with editing articles the Wikipedia way.--RioHondo (talk) 10:51, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
ok got it, now its clear, thanks for enlightening. I will take due care, Cheers :) Lezela

Please slow down

Thanks for creating the articles on suburbs of Hisar, but you're creating a lot of unreferenced articles. The references given often don't make any mention of the article's subject, and some of the references are broken. This is because you're creating them much too quickly. Please slow down, and make fewer, better articles. There's no need to rush. Thanks, OnionRing (talk) 12:13, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okie dokie, thanks for the tip and feedback. I will stop creating more articles on the suburbs of Hisar and will now work on improving the existing ones over next few weeks. Lezela (talk) 12:16, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You are creating links like: [www.hisar.gov.in Hisar city]. This is not blude and clickable as you didn't add http. My bot will fix these.
Google maps should not be used as a reference.
When responding to a talk message, don't use semicolons and instead use colons. Colons will indent the message and not bold everything. I've changed your response on this message to a colon. Bgwhite (talk) 02:17, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
ok, got it, thanks for the useful tips. Lezela (talk) 04:51, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please help me with the following question. I wish to upload some pics but they are NOT my own work, they have been downloaded from websites, mostly govt websites, and I want to upload those to WIKIMEDIA, for example the map of Hisar city (http://hisar.gov.in/hisar_map/city.html) from the Hisar district's govt website (http://www.hisar.gov.in). My question is which license shall I use for it while uploading to wikimedia? I find the wikiarticle on using licenses bit confusing. Thanks in advance for your kindness. :) Lezela (talk) 04:51, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Replaceable fair use File:MC-Hisar-map.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:MC-Hisar-map.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hammersoft (talk) 20:03, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This was my first attempt to upload fairuse picture as I could not find a "free license" media for this. This picture is a map and it is hard to describe a map in words. Also, I wanted to learn what is the best way or license tag to use to upload such pictures. Thanks for helping me me learn more about this. For this one as I could not describe the map in words and I can not find a free license version, I will insert this same explanation on the description page of this file to ensure it is retained at wikipedia. You are welcome to share more tips with me on this. Much appreciated. Thanks again. Lezela (talk) 04:10, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please understand, we do not retain non-free media because we can not find free license alternatives. That is not the criteria. Observe WP:NFCC #1 where it says "or could be created". A map of a modern place can readily be created. One does not need to use non-free imagery for this purpose. Therefore, this image can not be retain. I'm sorry. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 18:25, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
ok buddy, thanks for the explanation to make me understand. I was gonna upload many more pics, but i waited for the outcome for my first test upload. It now saves me the avoidable futile effort to upload more. Lezela (talk) 13:21, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
