name pronounciation
How is her surname pronounced in the US? It's a German name and we pronounce it "shairtsinga". Would be worth adding an IPA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.176.76.218 (talk) 02:03, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Guest Appearances: delete here?
A user has requested mediation on this issue. Wikipediatoperfection (talk) 19:30, 20 March 2009 (UTC) is here to help resolve your dispute. The case page for this mediation is located here.
An anonymous editor keeps adding a partially complete section called "Guest appearances" to the short discography in this article. I think this section should be deleted as it exists in more complete form at Nicole Scherzinger discography. I regard it as uneccessary duplication. The fact that Nicole has made many guest appearances on other artists' releases is mentioned in the body of the article. Can we vote on this? --Design (talk) 20:53, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- No votes? I'll go ahead and delete it.--Design (talk) 10:06, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's been reverted with no coment here. I will delete again.--Design (talk) 11:51, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- I hadn't noticed this until now, but yes, I agree with your removal of the section on the basis of it being incomplete and redundant to her discography page. Acalamari 17:54, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- I have deleted again twice in the last 3 days.--Design (talk) 09:42, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- I removed it a few minutes ago, only to have it re-added. Acalamari 16:17, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- I have deleted again!--Design (talk) 11:38, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- I've reverted again. What's the policy on this edit-war?--Design (talk) 11:46, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- I have tagged this edit war for informal mediation.--Design (talk) 11:27, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- Probably a good idea: I've left another note on the IP's talk page, however. Acalamari 15:22, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- A new variation is the addition of an unsourced section to this page's discography section titled "Other". I will delete this now and refer to this talk page.--Design (talk) 09:06, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Informal Mediation
Hi there, I hope I can be of some help. It seems that this dispute involves one registered editor and one anonymous IP editor. Design would you please confirm that this is the case. There is talk about leaving a message for the anonymous IP editor on their talk page, but I am unsure how this would work as they are unregistered and would not check it. I am not sure that they would even have a talk page. Can someone provide me a link? It is hard to mediate between a registered user and anonymous editor. If the anonymous editor comes to the discussion page I am happy to mediate. Until then, I am happy to work with you Design to find a solutioin. With that in mind I have a few questions to help me understand what is going on.
1. Has the IP editor been repeatedly reverting the same exact edits or are there multiple things they are changing?
2. What is the timeline on the edit reverts? Has the page been reverted by the anonymous user since you requested mediation?
3. Is there a difference of opinion over the substance of the article or in your opinion is the anonymous IP editor simply vandalizing the page?
Hopefully the anonymous editor will come to the table and discusses the edits. If they do not and this pattern continues we can discuss other solutions such as page protection. Wikipediatoperfection (talk) 20:20, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there. To answer your questions:
1. 58.137.129.220 has been adding sections titled "Guest Appearances" and "Other" with slight variations from 22 January 2009-19 March 2009. Acalamari has also deleted the anon. additions, at least once.
2. 58.137.129.220 has not reverted since I requested mediation.
3. I don't think it is vandalization. But it is incomplete, unsourced, and unnecessary in this article because more accurate and sourced data is already at Nicole Scherzinger discography.--Design (talk) 11:14, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you. Well, until the Anonymous IP comes to the talk page there is not a whole lot I can mediate. Hopefully they come to the talk page or stop changing the article. If they revert the page again you can, of course, request temporary page protection. I hope this helps. Wikipediatoperfection (talk) 19:50, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Age
Is her date of birth given anywhere in a reputable, checkable source? She looks much older than 30. 86.155.202.152 (talk) 16:01, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- While I agree that a better source should be found for Nicole Scherzinger's age, an opinion how old someone thinks she is is original research and goes against our policy on living persons. Acalamari 18:23, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Intellius shows her as 31. She graduated high school in 1996, so that number seems pretty accurate. As far as looking older, she does seem to have spent a lot of time in the sun during her youth, so it could just be sun damage which can accelerate skin aging. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.51.72.144 (talk) 18:38, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Personal life
Can people please stop revert-warring over this section? The other day, the "Personal life" section stated that Nicole Scherzinger was dating Lewis Hamilton, and the information was sourced. Then, it was changed to say that he broke up with her, and that was sourced too. Now people have been revert-warring to each version, and now neither source is there. Are they still dating, and can everyone please stop the revert-war? Thanks. Acalamari 22:45, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hello, i've adressed this issue, by sourcing the fact that the couple are still together with 2 credible sources. (Lil-unique1 (talk) 02:41, 15 September 2009 (UTC))
- Thanks for doing that, Lil-unique1. Acalamari 16:16, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
There's no need at all to comment on the fact that they broke up briefly. That's just tabloid gossip and not encyclopedic by any standard. 65.219.168.131 (talk) 00:57, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- Since when has media reports been tabloid gossip. Scherzinger even told Contact Music and EW that she had broken up with Hamilton (at the time) and Ne-Yo commented that it had inspired her during their studio sessions. Lil-unique1 (talk) 01:13, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

- I dont think the question here is reliability. It is notable because it was reported to have influenced her music i.e. a future event which is being documented in the article under her album section and therefore in my opinion it should be included. --Lil-unique1 (talk) 01:20, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- There are plenty of other celebrity couples that have broken up and gotten back together. Documenting these trivial details is not consistent with wikipedia's mission. 65.219.168.131 (talk) 03:58, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- If the encyclopedic reason for including reference to the breakup is that it influenced her songwriting, why is it that the non-encyclopedic portion is being added to the article and the encyclopedic portion isnt? Active Banana (talk) 04:05, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Religion
in the article she is said to have
A. Been raise as a "conservative Catholic" and B. Left Catholicism
I looked at the source and all it said was "I come from a very religious, strict upbringing in Hawaii.
"My grandfather is a preacher.
- This has been addressed... (Lil-unique1 (talk) 23:42, 17 September 2009 (UTC))
- The box at the bottom of the article still gives a denomination. No proof is given. She went to a non-denominational state school.
- Her father is said to have left when she was a baby. Her mother's behaviour does not confirm anything.
- Meyzeek Middle School seems to be non-denominational.
- It is not clear which grandfather was a "preacher". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.194.200 (talk) 13:03, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

- sources have been added confirming she is Catholic. Her grandfather is a priest (he most likely is widowed and then became a priest). Another article said he would come in his clerical collar to see nicole in concert. And just because she goes to public school doesn't mean she isnt religious. Many Catholics go to public or nonCatholic schools, just as many nonCatholics go to Catholic School. --152.40.12.75 (talk) 19:21, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
Removal of extraneous material
I removed the paragraph in the intro regarding the individual projects of other Dolls and the "hiatus" status of the band. Each of the bandmates and the band itself has their own page, and relevant content from the removed paragraph as it relates to Scherzinger is already included in this article elsewhere. PLEASE be respectful of TIME ZONES LATER THAN YOURS!!! =
I just removed the references to Nicole winning Dancing With the Stars. Thanks so much for ruining it for me. I'm on the West Coast, happily watching the show, which still had more than a half hour to go, and we were discussing what nationality Nicole might be, so I look her up, and WHAM!! SOMEBODY WAS SO RUDE THAT THEY POSTED THE OUTCOME OF THE SHOW WHEN MILLIONS OF AMERICANS HAVE NOT SEEN THE ENDING YET!! Please, people, can you just wait until the next morning to post the outcome of popular TV shows?? Besides the West Coast, there's Hawaii, which is several hours behind the millions of us on the West Coast. You just completely spoiled my evening and who knows how many other people on the West coast, Hawaii, and Alaska who saw this spoiler prematurely. It's really inconsiderate. Singles and i-tunes as a source
As a commercial site, i am not convinced that i-tunes as a reliable Source [1]. Can we get a consensus here or should we bring in outside experts? Active Banana (talk) 15:08, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- As with a lot of things, it depends. iTunes is certainly considered a reliable source for when and if something was released on iTunes. Its chart positions are unacceptable per WP:BADCHARTS.—Kww(talk) 16:30, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Aside from iTunes there are numerous websites including the sources i've provide which state that both "Supervillain" and "Puakenikini" were released. At the time (i remember it vividly) that "Puakenikini" was chosen by a poll on Scherzinger's website as the third single and one month after release due to it not charting (which was reported at the time but its difficult to source as the Associated Press source is now dead link) "Supervillain" was lined up as a fourth single. The iTunes sources provide the source of proof that the song's were released (and provides the release date). There are other sources provided which also speak of the releases. I don't see the issue here... Its exactly the same as the Sugababes who said on video that they were signed to Roc Nation but when their album Sweet 7 failed the official press release said the girls had never been signed to RN, RN had only produced the album. Initially i did remove the singles long ago but now i've thought about its more factual for us to report what actually happened. Although scherzinger said that 2 singles were released (surprise-surprise she only recognises her charting singles) in reality 4 singles were released though i accept "Supervillain" and "Puakenikini" did not recieve full releases (only to iTuneS) (only digital) Lil-unique1 (talk) 16:28, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- The above arguments seem sufficient that I do not oppose the current use. Does anyone else have have any objections? Active Banana (talk) 16:47, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
- Just to confirm "Puakenikini" and "Supervillain" are both available at amazon and 7 digital for anyone who is still in doubt of their release. – regards, Lil-unique1 (talk) 23:50, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
This article and Nicole Scherzinger discography article have some errors (possible POV); some that have recurred for several years. Some time ago I tried to rectify these errors but was reverted, so I'd like to discuss here:
- currently the opening para of this article says her solo career commenced in 2010. She released 4 singles in 2007, however only 1 charted.
- currently the discography lists the 3 non-charting singles from 2007 as "Promotional singles". This incorrect; they were released for sale to the public (online with artwork, i'm not sure about physical CD release). Naming them as "promotional" after they failed to chart is a form of POV "spin".
- there was at least one genuine "promotional single" released, which was "Rio" a cover of the Duran Duran Song, released online for free.
- 2 songs are currently listed in teh discography as "Other charted songs". One ("Killer Love") should be listed under Singles; the other ("Numba 1") should be listed under "As featured artist"

Birthname: A simple question
As it stands, the infobox at the beginning of this article once again has her birthname listed as including the last name "Scherzinger." I just have one question: How could Nicole's birth surname have possibly been Scherzinger, when, according to the introductory paragraph in this very article, her mother was still with her (Nicole's) biological father, Alfonso VALIENTE at the time?? Scherzinger is the surname of Nicole's STEPFATHER, to whom I am assuming Nicole's mother was not yet married at the time. In this way, I have tried several times to edit the birth surname in the infobox accordingly (without the "Scherzinger"), citing what I felt to be a reasonably reliable source, yet the edit always gets reverted or changed back eventually.
YES, I know the AllMusic Guide states that she was "born Nicole Elikolani Prescovia Scherzinger," but while the AllMusic Guide is generally an extremely reliable source for music-related information and I am not intending to overcriticize what is a fantastic music database, they have nonetheless actually been incorrect on several occasions about the release dates for various albums, as well as biographical info for certain artists. Thus, it is not unfathomable that perhaps one such inaccuracy is reflected in the information presented on Nicole. I would think there are more "direct" sources out there that would present more authentic biographical information about her.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.233.36.113 (talk) 19:03, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- I totally agree with everything you said. It's logical. And on the source listed on the page it says full name, not birth name. Would you mind showing one of the sources saying her birth name is otherwise than stated here? ΣПDiПG–STΛЯT (Talk) 02:12, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that's the problem; I can't seem to find any source that ACTUALLY list what her real birthname is. However, there is this article (which I believe is actually cited in the Wiki page) saying that she "adopted the name Scherzinger..." (http://www.divaasia.com/article/3944), which I think is quite telling. Also, this page (http://tagaloglang.com/Filipino-Americans/Hollywood-Celebrities/nicole-scherzinger-pussycat-doll.html; look under the "Biography" section) seems to indicate that her birthname was Valiente, but it doesn't explicitly say it. I feel like there has to be something out there stating what her actual birthname would be!... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.233.36.113 (talk) 00:14, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
- So once again, I find that somebody has reverted the birth name in the infobox back to "Nicole...Scherzinger," in spite of the argument I presented earlier here (under another IP address). Do people just not want to get it?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.233.38.213 (talk) 20:27, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
- I saw the discrepancy between infobox and article body, made the change (including a comment explaining that "Scherzinger" came from her stepfather and can't be part of her birth name) and then came over here to drop a note about it. Is there something about celebrity articles that attracts more casual editing? 70.240.148.111 (talk) 12:38, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Big star/TBA
Before we get into an edit war over this, I'll explain my reasons for removing "Scherzinger is recognized as one of the biggest pop stars in the world." and "TBA". The former is a POV statement, and the source is dubious: the video merely shows somebody saying that she is one of the biggest pop stars in the world, but one person stating this doesn't make it so (and so far I have not found any other sources to support this claim). As for "TBA", that is not going to be the title of her next album, and instances of "TBA" in the place of an untitled next album are removed. Acalamari 18:56, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- I tried explaining such to that editor. They responded by laughing in my face and re-adding it. I reported them to the 3RR. It's clearly a "stan" making such disruptive edits. MusicFreak7676 TALK! 20:47, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

The image re-added in this edit violates WP:NONFREE, as that image is non-free and that type of image should not be used to portray a person still living, and especially not when we already have plenty of free images available. Due to a certain member or two continually uploading images that fail WP:NONFREE, we should discuss here before changing the image. If you change the image without discussing it, you will be reported for disruption of the article. It's been decided already to keep the image from The X Factor so do not change it. Genre
Since I'm being reverted with the undo feature yet again on this article, I'll explain my genre removals in more detail than in my edit summary. In this edit 69.210.243.98 states "Have you heard her sing "Black Dog?" or "Baby Can't Drive?" THOSE ARE ROCK SONGS." This is original research, not sourced facts, so I believe I was right to then remove rock (I also think "dance music" should be removed or replaced with something else, like dance-pop, since the Wikipedia article on "dance music" doesn't actually define it as a genre in itself); in addition, she is only featured in "Baby Can't Drive", it's not just her song...and I don't think Nicole Scherzinger being featured in one or two rock songs really makes her a "rock" artist. Writing style
Has anyone noticed that there are a couple of strange sentences in here? For example: "She also asks boyfriend, Lewis Hamilton which songs he thinks are going to be hits, which he picked "Poison" to be the lead single from Killer Love." or "Scherzinger announced that her debut album would be entitled Her Name Is Nicole, which she recorded about 100 songs for the album, which was supposed to be released in 2007 before being..." Orphaned references in Nicole Scherzinger
I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Nicole Scherzinger's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 05:44, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Personal life?
Is anyone willing to add to the "Personal life" section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.210.250.177 (talk) 21:36, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
Legacy section
Factually, there is no consensus that this woman has a legacy. The section is a clear violation of BLP. —AdabowtheSecond 22:39, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
Too much detail? What should stay, what should be removed.
There is some obvious concern that this article may have too much detail. A discussion is needed to determine what needs to be including - and what does not. I have looked through very quickly. I can see that there is a legacy section that may not be needed. We need to decide if this performer warrants a legacy section. To do that we will need to determine if she has a legacy. There is a controversy section - for her time in PCD and her stints on US and UK versions of The X Factor. I think these have too much weight placed on them. Seeing as her stints on the reality show are already discussed elsewhere in her career section; they could be condensed and included in the relevant paragraphs in her career. A discussion is much better than just throwing information away though. Yes - there is way too much information and some of it should never have been included - I already spotted at least five points that belong in her single or albums articles as they are just minor.Rain the 1 22:40, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- I concur in all the ways possible. However, I have a passing interest in Scherzinger so I'm not spending my time on this article. —AdabowtheSecond 01:12, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
- I also agree. Till 05:36, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
I believe what I edited is worthy enough. Too much random information was placed were it did not belong. Her article needs to be condensed asap. --69.210.246.53 (talk) 23:48, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Profile Picture Change
I have been asked by Nicole's record label to swap out the current profile picture with this one - NicoleScherzinger1
However, when changing the picture it requests that I get consent on this talk page, so please get back me with the green light to make this change.
Thanks Crowdsurftn (talk) 19:31, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- No, is my answer. First of all, just because it is Nicole Scherzinger's wikipedia page, doesn't give her record label, agent, manager, lawyer, etc. any privilege of opinion when it doesn't coincide with consensus, MoS, guidelines and rules. Her infobox picture is CC-a-sa 3.0 licenesed picture, most recent, and in my opinion, better than the one you are trying to replace it with. Lady Lotus (talk) 18:46, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for getting back to me on this. Sorry about changing the picture over, after not hearing anything back I thought I might have been ok to go ahead and change. I understand your argument, but this request is actually coming from Nicole herself, the message was passed on to me from her label. Please let me know what I need to do to make this change happen if it's possible.
Appreciate the feedback, Crowdsurftn (talk) 18:56, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- I understand that even if the request is from Nicole herself, wikipedia follows it's guidelines and doesn't take requests from the person the article is about, especially because it's a conflict of interest and don't want any advertising or promoting to be done. If the request follows within the guidelines and you have consensus, then a change can be made. But at this point in time, you don't either. Lady Lotus (talk) 20:07, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- As long as the image is freely licensed, it's simply a question of what people think is better for the article. Who is proposing the change shouldn't matter. If it isn't freely licensed, there is no question and it needs to be deleted. --Onorem (talk) 20:11, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- The current image is freely licensed and I am more certain that it is correctly licensed. The new image is no better than the old one and tbh I am not 100% convinced it is properly licensed. That given I am inclined to say, leave the current image. See Taio Cruz for an example of where an artist had provided a free image. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 21:39, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

Not semi protected article!!!!!!
She is an international singer, and while many national level people have semi protected pages, she still does not!! That's so unfair!! aish.ego (talk) 09:00, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- Unfair? It's not perm semi-protected because it hasn't seen a level of vandalism that requires it. We want pages to be open for everyone when possible. Please explain why you think this page requires protection at this time. --Onorem (talk) 09:04, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- The icon of "semi protection " says, " the article is semi protected to promote compilence with the policy of biography of living people" , so isn't that criterion fitting here? aish.ego (talk) 05:21, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- How much IP or new account vandalism has there been here? Dougweller (talk) 08:11, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

"Princess"
Nicole has never been called the "Princess of Pop"...the link given refers to her as a "pop princess" - meaning she is of but ONE - not the princess of ALL. Vocal Range
The article currently states that NS has a vocal range of over 4 octaves. While not impossible, it is unlikely in the extreme. At the very least, this statement needs a (very credible) citation. Unfortunately a singer's vocal range is frequently seen as some kind of p*ssing contest among fans and admirers, and a four octave range is the usual claim made in these cases, along with similar claims made by singers themselves. As a life-long professional musician, I have heard no end of singers claiming this for themselves. When put to the test, none have even come close.
This article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7708522.stm is closer to the truth.
Even Freddie Mercury's claimed 4 octave range could not be substantiate acording to the study described in this article:
To quote from the article (if that's ok, I'm not familiar with Wikipedia's practices):
"There had been speculation that Mercury's range was over four octaves but this could not be substantiated by the study. The lead author on the study, Austrian voice scientist Christian Herbst, states that Mercury's voice range was 'normal for a healthy adult – not more, not less.' "
"Normal" voice range, even for trained classical singers, is about three octaves. if the difference between three octaves and four doesn't seem so great, remember that octaves are exponential. That is to say, going up one octave *doubles* the frequency, so three octaves to four is *much* more than the twenty-five percent increase you might assume if you were unaware of this. 82.26.78.212 (talk) 08:56, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
