Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 10:48, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You probably typed five (which produces only the timestamp) instead of four tildes. The SineBot can be a bit unforgiving though. No such user (talk) 12:24, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, I typed 2xhyphen+4xtilde: (--~~~~ ). When I look at my edits (edit mode) I see my name in there, when I confirm it some how doesn't take it. Next time I'll try only 4xtilde. Cheers 16:43, 28 July 2009 (UTC) 16:42, 28 July 2009 (UTC) and Sig.-Button: -- 16:42, 28 July 2009 (UTC) (still doesn't work...)
Not sure what is going on with your signature -- it works for me however I type it. Did you perhaps mess with My preferences/Signature? If you did, I suggest blanking appropriate fields, which would revert it to the default state. If you really need to know about Polish villages, I'd suggest posting a question on WordReference Polish forum. No such user (talk) 09:57, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for both infos! I'm annoyed myself as in the German WP it works without problem - will look into prefs. Cheers! Grey Geezer -- 10:06, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Your question about the Chinese story

Grey Geezer, I'm afraid that I can't help you. My knowledge of Chinese is too weak to answer your question with any confidence. Sorry. Marco polo (talk) 18:21, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jolly, jolly sixpence

In highly unlikely event you haven't noticed, I was composing a long discussion about the worth of a sixpence (derived from Kipling and the 1900 Whitaker's Almanack) at the very same time you were thanking everyone for their replies at Wikipedia: Reference desk/Miscellaneous. But in case you haven't yet seen it, my late reply is there now. —— Shakescene (talk) 00:14, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for alerting me! I had closed the case already ... ;-) Grey Geezer 08:45, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

How to sign your posts

It is not a bad idea to sign your posts by simply typing 4 Tildes at the end of your post. Please see WP:TILDE. Happy editing! Bus stop (talk) 22:03, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

<sigh> I do this for 5 years now - I also use the "signature button" once in a while - but somehow THE SYSTEM does not accept / see / recognize that.
Now I sign with 4 Tildes: Grey Geezer 07:29, 19 July 2012 (UTC) ...
now I sign by button: --Grey Geezer 07:29, 19 July 2012 (UTC) ... and what happens? ... :
This is what is meant by four tildes: ~~~~. Is that what you are typing? Bus stop (talk) 10:54, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly that. I'm editing for 4+ years in the German WP. I now copy/paste your ~~~~ (betw. the nowikis) and I get => Grey Geezer 15:50, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Maybe if you post an inquiry at the Village pump, technical, somebody there will be able to shed some light on this. Bus stop (talk) 20:36, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'll do that. Bothers me since the beginning. Grey Geezer 06:07, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bernhard Kadenbach, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Stress (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your question about italian trucks

I answered you on Wikipedia Oracolo: red diagonal bar on the front indicated the nature of transportation using two colors: red if goods belong to the carrier, white if the goods belong to a third party. Bye --79.26.114.106 (talk) 21:56, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Grey Geezer. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
