The Tachibana family (橘氏) a very powerful family that was present throughout the Nara and Heian periods in Japan.

Several members of the family reached the Sa-daijin post.

The family lost political power to other clans, especially to that of the Fujiwara, at the end of the Heian period.

Throughout the Heian period, the four rival clans consisted of the Minamoto, Taira, Tachibana, and the Fujiwara.
